It's Roy Moore, which is reason enough to roll your eyes. Honestly, this man should stop giving his opinion on anything since he was removed as Chief Justice...and no one cares what he has to say anyway.

So what is wrong with a moment of silence, where you can choose to pray to your god, make a mental grocery list, or just sit there and be silent, thinking of nothing?

I'm Christian, but may not agree with a particular prayer offered at these meetings. Isn't that why we have so many denominations? Christians don't even agree with each other on how to interpret what the Bible says, much less with the way prayer is to be carried out.

What's even more frustrating is the school board needs to be focusing 100% on school issues, like improving performance and trying to find ways to keep jobs in this bad economy.

What say ye?

Two things.

Thing 1: We had plenty of moments of silence. The teacher would get fed up with us and say, through gritted teeth "Open your books and read. And if I hear ONE WORD there'll be no recess". We were very quiet.

Thing B: As long as there are math tests, there will be prayer in school.

Roy is making political hay, and trying to drive a wedge into the separation between Church and State. He's a buffoon, and the rest of the country laughs at him, and us for tolerating him.

It's just unbelievable that this is even on someone's radar. Teachers and staff are losing their jobs and he wants to talk about forcing prayer at the school board meetings? I wonder if he fully appreciates how much he's disliked...or what a joke he is.
Roy The Theocrat Moore needs to get out and spend some time removing his oversized campaign signs, since he lost several weeks ago in the primary. He or his campaign workers have violated the law by allowing those signs to remain in place.

Moore is a self-aggrandizing little scofflaw weasel! Even conservative evangelicals in Alabama have the good sense to see the little opportunistic demagogue for the scoundrel and poseur that he is!

Happily, i cannot. some of you have said some ofthe things running through my mind, word for word.

some of the other things aren't acceptable for a public forum such as this.

I'm sure he was fasting as the monument of the Ten Commandments was being removed.

I don't like this man, he's too full of himself, but what I read is that he encouraged the return to prayer. I didn't read that he's trying to force anyone. Wink

"former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore has joined the debate. The Montgomery-based Foundation for Moral Law on Tuesday sent a letter to the Hoover Board of Education encouraging the board to return to having a prayer before each meeting".

No matter what they say if it is passed then it will be enforced. Just leave religion out of our government. That includes public schools.

Roy Moore is the perfect example of the kind of christian that give all others a bad name. Glad to see that our sensible caring forum chirstians see him for what he is. Smiler
