Oh.. and you can ABSOLUTELY belive what you wish... I could care less and shall never lose a second of sleep over anyone elses beliefs of anything... as long as they aren't tryin to harm my family or me... Believe what ever you want that blows your skirt up... I could be no more apathetic about yours, or anyone elses' belief system. That is your business, and you have free will to believe what you want, just as I have free will to believe what I want.

WELL, did God create man? Maybe God is using man to do the dirty work!!! AL GORE IS AN IDIOT? Basically, all the garbage that is spewed on this topic smacks of idiocracy. That was a GREAT MOVIE and probably what the world is heading to. LMAO!!!!!!!!!

Actually, Gore isn't an idiot.. he is a brilliant business man who knew he could make a killin off of simpletons who would buy "Carbon Credits" from him to feel less guilty about driving a hummer. LMAO!!!

But seriously... in 1st or 2nd Peter I believe it is, it says that, and I'm paraphrasing, "earth has been reserved for fire, and is being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of evil." something like that... I'll have to look it up for exact wording, or you can. lol... God is in control, NOT man. We are incapable of changing climate. It is now, and has always been cyclical... hotter sometimes... colder sometimes. We just have too many idiots that overthink things.
{Quote by Sofa King} If what the nutcases say is true, that the earth will be destroyed by fire, then that is an even greater conundrum. Why would a loving God threaten to burn His own children? Because his own Children become Homosexuals and Lesbians and Athiest and such, like Sodom and Gomorrah, when the People of the World get so Wicked that there are no Righteous People God will Burn it.

I agree with the overthinking. Gore is using AGW as a scam for money. It was working until the economy got so bad, nobody cares about the weather anymore. His 'movie' was such a great scientific documentary that Germany banned from showing it since it was classified as propaganda.

Now as for the earth, if it is not to be destroyed why the phrase 'create new heavens and a new earth'?

Does that really make sense to you that a loving, caring, forgiving God would burn the entire earth in order to punish His own children because they misbehave?

If you had a gay or atheist child, would you punish them in the same way?

Again,i am a believer but some of this stuff you guys espouse about my God just makes so sense. Sincerely trying to understand how we worship such a completely different God.

Sofa’

You always seem to struggle with this religious thing.

I might suggest the COC where there are no requirements of being struck by lightning. Tithing or worship of any man.

OMG... pass pass pass...

this isn't heaven, this is a recipe for vegitable sheep quiche...

we get a mind wipe so we don't rememebr the people we love?

we are the sum total of our memories and experiances, to remove part would be to unmake who we are.

so i'll pass.

and what if the child was both?
what if the kids was gaythiest... would he get punished twice?

i love it when they try to say ' no, god doesn't punish, you punish yourself by disobeying god'.

so, the dad didn't stand there and let the kid die, the kid did it to himself by drinking the pretty green stuff under the sink even tho daddy said not to.

yeah.. go with that defense.. that'll wow `em in the courtroom. that's even better than the 'she was askin for it' defense.

Yes, I struggle with my faith sometimes as do all believers. Much more since I started visiting this forum and daily witness the mental gymnastics that you fundamentalists must demonstrate in order to justify your "logic" (and I use that word advisedly).

Would you like to attempt to put your "logic" (again, advisedly) to use in trying to explain the "loving" God that would burn His own children- at least according to you fundamentalists?

Sofa,

I believe you are sincere. I had not taken you seriously .

You ask about me? I never give it a thought why so many are killed. I don’t think God does the killing or reasons that someone die or burn.

I don’t believe in the devil.

I believe man is his own salvation when it comes to dying. I just cannot imagine anyone wrestling with this nonsense. God is not the enemy.

I would say I'm far from being a fundementalist but I have no problem with you referring to me as one.

Logically sofa, I must assume God may not like everyone and I strive to not be one of them.

b50m

1. Why would I want to believe in the devil? I believe in god.

2.The COC has no credo or doctrine other than the Bible. As far as what they teach for salvation.

Nothing. It is easily taught in the Bible.
You have not read the Bible.

Revelation 12:7 And war broke out in heaven: Mi′cha·el and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled
8 but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven.
9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.

Ezekiel 28:
13 In E′den, the garden of God, you proved to be. Every precious stone was your covering, ruby, topaz and jasper; chrys′o·lite, onyx and jade; sapphire, turquoise and emerald; and of gold was the workmanship of your settings and your sockets in you. In the day of your being created they were made ready.
14 You are the anointed cherub that is covering, and I have set you. On the holy mountain of God you proved to be. In the midst of fiery stones you walked about.
15 You were faultless in your ways from the day of your being created until unrighteousness was found in you.
16 Because of the abundance of your sales goods they filled the midst of you with violence, and you began to sin. And I shall put you as profane out of the mountain of God, and I shall destroy you, O cherub that is covering, from the midst of the fiery stones.
17 Your heart became haughty because of your beauty. You brought your wisdom to ruin on account of your beaming splendor. Onto the earth I will throw you. Before kings I will set you, [for them] to look upon you.
quote:
I would say the fall alone would have killed him.

You are kidding I hope.

quote:
And the Lord God said unto the serpent, … And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head and thou shalt bruise his heel.

The above text can be read in the Torah, Dead Sea Scrolls, and Old Testament of the Christian Bible. The story it tells is an ancient one. Many believe the narrative comes from Adam, the first of us that bear the image of God. Humanity witnessed the Lord God speak to Satan about the enmity that will be upon the earth because of sin. He foretold that the head of Satan would be bruised. And Satan would bruise the heel of a man. By this we know of a promised hero, a savior. Though an offspring of fallible humanity, he would need to be so much more to vanquish evil. The power to do so we possessed NOT before, as humanity’s fall from glory makes obvious.

Gread question b50m...
The text translated to "purged with fire"... No matter the language or translation, the word purge always comes back to "cleansing, to cover, atonement...etc." Then God says "I am making everything new".... This tells us that the fire is "blank slating" the earth for God to re-paint so to speak.
God doesn't need to destroy the earth. I think we can handle that just fine.
Species are becoming extinct at a rate of 104 per day, 38,000 species of fish,
animals, plants etc. becoming extinct every year.

In the next 10 years one third of all species will disappear. Less than five yrs.
over half of all the world's crude oil reserves will have been used up.

In about 60 years the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will have doubled.

But new species are found every day also. And If I could have all the oil in the
world, or all the technology to find it, I would take the technology. America
will thing of something. Algore is a con man.

While I tend to generally agree that change is inevitable, you are guilty of projecting current trends into the future. That is a key component of alarmists and can put you into the same intellectual boat as Algore.

The fact is that, given CURRENT estimates, yes, species are dying at an alarming rate but it could be that a warming planet will be a benefit to some species and a bane to others.

We do not know what other sources of oil reside beneath the surface. It would me pore practical to say that FINDING the oil will become more and more difficult but to claim we are about to run out is so 1970's.

CO2: Again, you make some astounding leaps based on current trends. This whole CO2 thing is vastly complicated and no one, not Algore or the IPCC has "the" answer.

So, invictus, while there is some truth to your claims, it may be intellectually beneficial to be wary of alarmist nonsense seeping into your (and my) propositions.

Let's stick to what we know for now, that species are disappearing, oil won't be available forever and CO2 poses some interesting challenges if we can't mitigate it.

I can agree with that (since you put it that way) and might add the largest part
of CO2 is not man made.
INVICTUS... you are correct about man doing a good job... but not the way you think you are right. The fact that man sinned made the earth finite... a fallen creation is a dying creation. But us drivin a car, or building a building etc..etc.. will not destroy the earth. Only God has the power to destroy that which He created.

I'm adding this because reading that I already saw possible ways to misconstrue what I typed... by dying creation I mean, every living thing that existed pre-sin was immortal. Humans didnt need to kill animals for clothing or food, didnt need to cut down trees for shelter.. etc etc.. However, this does not mean we can "use it all up" so to speak. God left enough to sustain human life... when H decides to take it away is THE ONLY TIME it will be destroyed.

actually He does "need to purge heaven". Remember, this is the same heaven where Lucifer rebelled against God and was banished from. Thus, like earth, heaven is unclean.
Also, "heavens", like many other words in our English speaking Bibles, is a translation for several words. Some theorize that it refers to 3 "heavens"... The sky that surrounds the earth that we see when we look up... Space/The Universe that we can't see with our eyes... and the the place where God's Throne is located. But I think that is kinda short sided... could be even more meanings.
The word "love" is the same way. The Bible says love one way over and over again, with infered meaning in English translations of the Bible. However, when you study the Hebrew and Greek and other languages, you find that there are several words for love. fatherly love has a word, motherly love has a word, brotherly/sisterly love, romantic love... they all have their own words in other languages, but we get the same ol boring word over and over again. lol
Anyhoo.. hope that helps a little.
LOL....
I always answer that like that... some things we don't know, and if we don't know it then it is because God doesn't need us to know it.
Read Rev. Chapter 10... it's about John seeing the "Strong Angel"... He belows out in a voice of thunder, and just as John is going to write what the angel says, he is told not to write it.... so he didnt. lol... To me, it's simple. some things we know, some things we don't. But none of the things we don't are essential to us living forever with Him in paradise.
