Benham Brothers Testify How God Helped Them to Start Company After They Got Fired; Confident Good Will Come From HGTV Firing

Popular Christian twin brothers and real estate experts, David and Jason Benham, are confident that good will come from HGTV's dropping of their reality show in the same way he used a firing in the past to help them start their successful real estate business.

In a recent post on their website, the brothers revealed that their company, Benham Real Estate, was born out of a painful firing more than a decade ago, which left them without jobs. They then reminded Christians through Scripture that God's plan is usually far greater that man's plan.

Benham Real Estate is now a full service real estate company that specializes in selling bank owned properties. The real estate division, Benham REO Group, has about 100 offices in 35 states across the United States, according to the brothers' Facebook page.

"When the tables have turned in life, we need to realize that God owns the tables. He always has a plan and it's far greater than any plan we could ever come up with. It may be hard and painful to understand at the time, but God's ways are always best," began the brothers in the post.

"Remember the Israelites in Egypt — God turned the Egyptians against them so that they could fulfill their destiny. 'He turned their heart to hate His people, to deal craftily with His servants …' Ps 105:25," they noted.

The twins then highlighted the adversity that resulted in their successful real estate company.

"Twelve years ago, before my brother and I started our real estate group, we worked for a large company that went through a horrific split. The split found us on the wrong side of the fence, so we got fired. Although we were heartbroken and had no other jobs lined up, God used that to force us to start our own company," noted the post.

"For two years we scratched and clawed to make enough money to feed our budding families, all-the-while building our little real estate company. Well, the rest is pretty much history, as God has blessed our little venture supernaturally, even to a point where HGTV offered to do a show based upon our real estate expertise," they added.

Now that they have lost that initial HGTV offer, the brothers believe that the adversity they went through before prepared them for the fallout with HGTV.

"God had already prepared us long ago for a situation just like this. All we need to do is remember that he owns the tables, and when they turn He is up to something good!

"When the tables turn in your situation, don't try to flip them back to where they were, just let it play itself out. Recognize that God Himself is the One who owns the tables. He's got you right where He wants you!" ended the post.

If they aren't injuring people, destroying property, or doing anything other than speaking their minds, and if they aren't doing it on their show, it is none of the network's business. Why, if they are as bad as the phelps bunch, would the network even give them a show? The phelps bunch are all over the news with their antics, I've never heard of these guys. It's getting out of hand. OK, so can I get all the shows that have people I don't agree with, cancelled? Why are others allowed to picket and protest businesses in support of the lgbt, while calling their opposition all sorts of names such as "crazy old white men", apparently all the crazy old black men that oppose the gay lifestyle are off limits, make derogatory remarks against them on talk shows and sitcoms, yet no one cancels their shows?

We're expected to do business with "gay friendly" companies, yet, as I mentioned on my thread, try to ruin other companies and owners that don't tow the line and say they are "gay friendly". "We've got good products, service and low prices, but the most important part, we're gay friendly"!!!!We all know there are gay people in all walks of life, and working for companies whose owner may not agree with their lifestyle. Unless that company is refusing to hire someone, or purposely mistreating them based solely on their sexual preference, people need to leave them alone. Look how everyone got all up in arms over the LIE the lesbian told about the couple writing a nasty note on their receipt. They couldn't toss enough pity parties for her while she looked all innocent and aggrieved. Well gee, oops, she lied. Move along, nothing to see here. Yep, after she fleeced people out of money and ruined an innocent couple's reputation, let's just drop it. Did all the ones so offended take to face book and issue apologies? Seriously, did anyone do that? If they did I missed it.

David and Jason Benham told "Nightline" today that HGTV canceled their reality TV show, "Flip it Forward," set to premiere in October, after a liberal watchdog group published controversial comments David Benham had made publicly about abortion and gay marriage in years past.

"Our show had nothing to do with anything of the things that are now the controversy," David said. "But I also understand that HGTV when they called us and shut the show down, they said they had to make a business decision."

The Benhams, based in Concord, N.C., are entrepreneurs who have experience in buying houses on the cheap and renovating them, and then teaching others how to flip houses -- skills they said they planned to demonstrate in a competition-type reality show.

After the network announced the show last month, the lobbying group Right Wing Watch published reports alleging that David Benham was an outspoken anti-gay, anti-abortion "extremist."

The group posted reports on its website Tuesday and Wednesday this week, saying David Benham had led protests outside abortion clinics and led a prayer rally in 2012 to "stop homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation." Right Wing Watch claimed that David supported a North Carolina constitutional amendment that defined marriage as between a man and woman. The reports also said David was an anti-Muslim activist.

HGTV announced it was canceling the brothers' show on Wednesday.

David Benham acknowledged that his comments at the prayer rally had "got me in a bunch of trouble," but said Right Wing Watch's reports took his anti-abortion comments "out of context" and their statements about anti-Muslim comments were "just absolutely untrue."

--------------------------

I didn't see one thing he did that he was not well within his rights to do. But because he spoke up about his beliefs they call him an extremist, and make other accusations against him, and caused him to lose his show. Again, this mess is getting out of hand. Who's watching the "right wing watch" and where do they get the right to determine who is and isn't an extremist?

At the end of the day no television network or business wants to be associated with any type of controversy such as this. Even a small hint of it is terrible for business(ratings).

I enjoy "Love it or List it" and "House Hunters" but that's about all I watch on HGTV.

You and Invictus are getting almost as bad as Bill now.
These guys aren't being discriminated against, they weren't "fired" (that's kind of hard to do when you don't even have the job yet), HGTV just found out that lots of people don't want to watch them spewing hate and decided not to carry the show.

What made hgtv think they'd be spewing hate? What about the hate they spewed against the brothers? The show would be taped, who'd be harmed? If they spewed hate no one would have seen it and they'd be gone, unlike all the other shows that spew hate towards people they disagree with.

I hear you. I'm the same way. I often will post a topic and come back later at some point to comment if I have anything to say. Not a big deal. That's how a forum works. People post topics and others comment.

House hunting in Europe is boring. You would need to build or luck out

on a new home American built.

Yep, all those house hunting shows bored me, and so did those flip it and repair shows. People who were house hunting would buy ugly old houses for hundreds of thousands, then put in a hundred thousand to make it look like anything. Always seemed to me they could have just built a house a lot cheaper. Oh well. I liked the gardening hints, decorating shows, but they don't do those anymore. Like I say, guy show now.

So God's plan for the brothers is to profit from other people's misfortune.  Ten to one says they are as crooked as a barrel of snakes.

Foreclosure isn't always the fault of the borrower, especially considering the latest "banking crises".  Instead of working with a buyer to keep their home, many lenders merely foreclose, collect the mortgage insurance, flip the house and repeat the cycle.

No, I wouldn't buy a house that had been foreclosed on, under any circumstances.

I feel sorry for people who have really fallen on hard times, but that isn't always the case. People don't get foreclosed on if they make payments, and even then I don't think it's a walk in the park to foreclose and actually get someone out of the house. I saw a woman in a video explaining how she hadn't made a payment on her house for over a year, and was still living happily there. She admitted she was squirreling away the money for the day she would have to leave and find something cheaper. How does that even make sense? Just pay your darn payment if you have the money. Many  apparently have the money to hire shysters to tie up and tangle a lender, who are the legal owners now, but not the money to make their house payments. When it gets to the part where they are going to have to surrender the property, many times they take every thing out of the house, in one case even the kitchen cabinets, or destroy what they can't take. How are the ones that end up paying for that going to recoup those loses from someone that didn't even pay the mortgage?

The only thing I know she was going through was not paying her mortgage. She had money. If only she was the exception to the rule. Wayyyyyyyyyyy too many know how and are, "working the system". NOT talking about good people who have worked, lost their jobs, and are losing what they've worked for. Way too much of that going on now too,
