GOP Wins Race for Weiner's Seat

In upset victory, GOP political novice Bob Turner defeats Dem assemblyman David Weprin in N.Y. special House race to fill seat vacated by Rep. Anthony Weiner, as election result is seen as a referendum on Obama's economic policies.

Obama is having some really bad luck lately. Or maybe the Tea Party supporters are not crazy after all.

A GOP in NY?  The world has gone mad!

Ditto,

Keep holding on to your polls.  The Dems outspent the Republicans in the NY district 13-to-1, and still lost that election.  Not a good sign for the Dems.

As bad as I want to see Obama out of the WH, I could care less if he wins the elction, as long as there is a balance of power with the Republicans / TEA party legislators controlling the House and Senate.  That way he can do little more damage than he has already caused.  Now if we could get him off of the television.....geeesh

  • Turning to employment, while Americans often say losing a job is a major traumatic experience, there are a number of events they see as significantly worse:
    • Illness is almost universally terrifying -- 79% say that finding out you have cancer and 75% say a major illness is worse than losing a job

Got to love this.  The Obama economy is better than finding out you have cancer.  Too bad Obama won't be running against getting cancer next year!

That represents an increase of nearly three million people from 2008, and likely is a symptom of less employers offering health insurance, reports HealthDay News
