Yep, that's how I am understanding it too Crash, AND all Patels speak english and if anybody says otherwise...well...that's just BS! LOL
___
Latest on this: The Madison Chief of Police has recommended that the officer who manhandled Mr. Patel be FIRED. The officer has been charged with third-degree ASSAULT. Quoth the Police Chief: "“I sincerely apologize to Mr. Patel, Mr. Patel’s family and our community. We strive to exceed expectations.”
<<<Chief Muncey said Officer Parker turned himself in to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office on the assault charge. The FBI will also conduct a civil rights inquiry, and will turn over its findings to the U.S. Department of Justice to determine if further actions will be taken.>>>
Fittingly, the Police Chief had nothing to say about Mr. Patel's competency to speak English and made no observations about the Patel surname as having anything to do with this incident.
Those dash cameras can bring about swift action, can't they?

The 1 1/2 lines within quotes in my opening paragraph and the four lines of material within these marks---<<< >>>---are the only cut and paste part of my post. The story is reported in full in numerous newspapers and on various TV stations.and those reports are altogether consistent with the part I quoted. MY sincerest apologies for my abject failure to provide a link. But my little slip-up at least gave you an opportunity--at least in your conceits-- to salvage some minuscule pride following all the narrow-minded, speculative, erroneous and bigoted drivel you have posted on this subject.
CBS carried the story on their national news telecast this evening with Scott Pelley. They included the footage of Mr. Patel being violently thrown down on the concrete sidewalk and being unable to stand unassisted thereafter.

Bigoted? Gee, I must have touched a nerve. Thanks again for the compliment.
BTW
< = "less than" sign. Which your "quote obviously was.
> = "more than" sign. Which is wasn't.
But to be techical
<<< =
In PHP, operator <tt><<<OUTPUT</tt> is used to denote the beginning of a heredoc statement (where <tt>OUTPUT</tt> is an arbitrary named variable.)
In Bash, <tt><<<word</tt> is used as a "here string", where <tt>word</tt> is expanded and supplied to the command on its standard input, similar to a heredoc.
Well, you get the point. It's not used for quotations in your case.
Face up to it Contendah. You violated your own tenant.
