SECOND TRIP TO "G's"
Got there tonight around 5:45PM...and the line was long at the drive thru...(good advice here..if you want to get waited on quicker...get out of the car...and walk to the window...I gave my order, received my order, and the same cars were still sitting in line to give their order...the question is why?...the answer that I observed was limited personnel in the place, "G", his son, and another individual in the back were working as fast as three human beings could move...they just got slammed and was not prepared for the early rush)
We order the Lemon-Pepper Wings along with the hot wings tonight...for sides... a order of battered mushrooms, and his pineapple bake beans...we think his blue cheese dressing is one of the best...so we got a extra portion tonight...
The Buffalo Hot Wings (HOT) were consistent...with out order from last week..crispy on the outside and moist and tender inside...The Lemon Pepper Wings were new to us ....we found them the same as for as texiture and juicy inside meat...however, the flavor was unique...I would describe them close to the plain wings, with a hint of lemon and pepper...we expected a stronger seasoning flavor, but we still rated them good...When you order them...be sure to ask that a little more Lemon and Pepper be added to enhance the lemony and peppery taste that you expect from the wings name.....
First let me start out and say...this is a rarity when it comes to mushrooms at shoals eating establishments...THE MUSHROOMS ARE NOT FROZEN...THEY ARE FRESHLY BATTERED IN "G'S" SPECIAL BATTER...When the order came, we open the box and found it piled with golden brown Mushrooms straight from the grease.. On the way home, we started eating them...The batter has a light taste, and matches the mother earth flavor and smell of fresh mushrooms...
(Recommendation thou...when you get them home... eat them don't wait...as the colder and longer they lay in the container..the more greasy and soggy the batter becomes...this is not the fault of G..this is simply the nature of battered mushrooms...so if you let them stay out to long..don't expect them to crispy as they were when taken from the hot grease.
A hour later and you will think you are eating a rolled up wet napkin)
The bake beans..well! if you are use to bake beans with onions, bellpeppers, bacon, groundbeef, then you are going to be disappointed...G's version of bake beans is simply that...bake beans nothing else...these were called pineapple bake beans...but we could not find any pineapple...nor did we detect any flavor of pineapple...wait! I take that back...we had one in the crowd that thought just maybe they did..but after a second attempt..the tastebuds on the tonque still could not make up its mind...so lets just say maybe ...maybe not..the one thing the beans have is a mushy over cooked texture, and plenty of brown sugar...so if you like a plain bake bean with extra brown sugar...you're mouth is going to enjoy itself...they cost a dollar...and the value matches the quality of beans...
A thumbs up to the Buffalo Wings,(The word Hot is going to catch up to you after about 2 wings...)Thumbs up on the Lemon-Pepper Wings eventhou we would have preferred a little stronger seasoning...
Thumbs up on the Mushrooms when hot...they are not in the top 10 receipes for mushrooms, but they are good, plenty and flavorable...so you want go wrong on that side dish..
The Bake Beans...well! they were not bad...but we wouldn't order them again...but then again, that is for our tastebuds...give them a try...you may get the chance to tell me they were the best you have ever tasted...
"G" has got a good basic start...I am sure he will be making some adjustments on some items...There is one thing...you can count on with "G" if you don't like an item...it ain't because he ain't trying...
My wife and I ate there for the 2nd times last night.
I had the Honey BBQ wings and Hawaiian wings. Both were fantastic! I think the Hawaiian were my favorite of the 2 though. So now I've had those as well as the Hot wings and lemon pepper. Haven't had a bad wing yet.

We also got an order of hush puppies. I was expecting some basic ol' hush puppies. I should have known better. They were pretty dang spicy, but they were a very pleasant surprise.
Went back to G's last night and got the catfish snack this time. It was really delicious. I was a little disappointed that he has changed fries though. They were the good crinkle cut type; now the are the spicy curly fries just like the ones at Arby's. I don't like those nearly as well. But the fish was delicious and didn't need any salt. But the snack doesn't come with hushpuppies; you have to order them as a side order.
OK; have they definitely closed? B/c I have read all your wonderful reviews and happened to be in the area last night and looked for it and could not find it. I thought I must be a total idiot but if they are closed that explains why I couldn't find them. That's a bummer; I was looking forward to trying their food.

Are they relocating elsewhere??! Please let me know!
