You may be ready for football, but ESPN is not ready to let Hank Williams Jr. open tonight’s game after his incendiary comment about President Obama on Fox News.

The country singer criticized the president’s recent “golf summit” with Republican House Speaker John Boehner. The singer told Fox & Friends that the meeting “would be like Hitler playing golf with [Israeli leader] Benjamin Netanyahu.”

Williams’ voice is famously used to open Monday Night Football, asking viewers “are you ready for some football?” ESPN released this statement:

“While Hank Williams, Jr. is not an ESPN employee, we recognize that he is closely linked to our company through the open to Monday Night Football. We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight’s telecast.”

Williams explained during the Fox News telecast that he made the comparison because the president was “the enemy.”

Question...how do you know which one is "Hitler" and who is "Netanyahu" in this comparison?  Maybe it was Boehner...

Maybe it was neither and maybe he was talking about extreme opposites...it's stupid by JR for sure, but it is much ado about nothing.

Well ditto, I don't think his career/fame/money was made only in the South, and made long before the tea party existed. But you can dream can't you. And the ones I mentioned get to live with the consequences too. However those consequences are usually praise and adulation from the lefties. How about the drugging, drinking, gun-toting, gang banging rest of the country?

Progressives are adherants to a philosophy developed in the late 19th and early 20 century, although it has anticedents in the early 19th century.  When practiced, in various forms, its never worked. Generally, its spread the misery, if not death and suffering.  No matter, they still try and claim this time it will be different.  They combine the definition of insanity (trying the same thing over and over, while expecting a different outcome) with the worst of a faith based practice -- and they refer to Laffer as voodoo!

He will make a fine TeaPublican, helping cement the idea of the ignorant, redneck, gun-totin, drinkin, drivin, shootin Tea Partyin Southerner.

After spewing all that vitriol, how would you describe yourself?

So, you have proven that you and Hank, Jr. are the same. What a surprise. Another reason to be embarrassed for the South.
