...... ya'll stay cool....... its gonna get hotter........
...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM WEDNESDAY TO 7 PM CDT THURSDAY...

A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM WEDNESDAY TO 7 PM CDT THURSDAY.

HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL REACH AROUND 100 DEGREES BOTH WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AFTERNOONS...WITH HEAT INDICES OF AROUND 105 DEGREES COMMON. THESE VALUES MAY APPROACH 110 DEGREES IN A FEW LOCATIONS...MAKING OUTDOOR EXPOSURE DANGEROUS. LIMITED OVERNIGHT COOLING...WITH LOWS IN THE MID TO UPPER 70S WILL ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO THE DANGER FROM THIS LENGTHENING HEAT WAVE. THIS ADVISORY MAY NEED AN EXTENSION THROUGH FRIDAY OR SATURDAY IF CURRENT FORECASTS STAY ON TRACK.

HEAT EXHAUSTION...HEAT CRAMPS...OR IN EXTREME CASES...HEAT STROKE MAY RESULT FROM PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO THESE CONDITIONS. CHECK FREQUENTLY ON THOSE WHO MAY BE AT RISK...SUCH AS CHILDREN...THE ELDERLY...AND PEOPLE WITH CHRONIC AILMENTS.

My friend , thanks for the advice and guess what ? I got outside this morning at 6:05 this morning and cut the grass.

It is awfully hot and people do need to be extremely careful.

My grass doesn't dry out until after noon so, even though it desperately needs it, it ain't getting cut. Not worth the risk.

evening news said heat index was 116 Eeker

(and don't forget your pets!)

I cut mine wet on purpose so it would not be so dusty and it was dusty in different places a little bit.
I just had to put my two cents in here...my son's youth league football coach practiced them from 5:30 to 8:00pm....Does anyone else see the insanity in this? The varsity doesn't even practice until 7:00 due to the heat. My kid has been sick two days now. And yes that is with waterbreaks and gatorade. But as Larry the cable guy says YOU JUST CAN"T FIX STUPID!!!
lookn2it back a long time ago when I played softball we had practice like that and the temperature went up to over 100 degrees. My mom told the coach that if he didnot have the sense enough to get the kids out of that weather she had the sense enough to be a mom and take me and my sister home. In about 5 minutes he let the whole team go and we didnot practice again for about 5 days due to the heat. Sometimes I guess parents have to voice thier concerns to coaches. My daughter is 4 and I would do and say exactly what my mom did if it ever happened even if it meant her getting kicked off the team. I was on either cnn or msnbc that a 17 yo very athletic track star died yesterday close to Chattanooga with a heat stroke. Sports isnot more important than life. My opinon on the subject and I hope your sons coach sees the error of his ways before he gets a kid sick or worse.
I am glad you did that because of your and your husbands gut instincts it may have helped some of the children who donot have protectors there to watch them. It is supposed to be 102 today and tomorrow and 105 Friday and 102 Saturday. THat is no weather for kids to be out in. You are a good parent and I will be doing the same thing when my child gets old enough for sports.
PLEASE remember your pets! I know two people who lost dogs to heat stroke last summer because they thought they would be okay outside as long as they had shade. Please don't take any chances! Be sure they have plenty of fresh water and cool shade. If they can't stay cool outside, please bring them inside, even if it's temporary. It's so heartbreaking to see people lose a pet when they don't realize that they have endangered them. Frowner

I forget I'm talking to "civilians". I'm doing home healthcare! I've done the "home nursing" bit, too. Thank god, that's over.

The people who give you flack about pulling your child out of practice would be the ones offering sympathy if he had a heatstroke. You did a good, good thing.

Hey, I knew what you meant. I was just funnin'.
