appearently, this is a specal report on whnt 19 tonight on the 10pm news broad cast.

i was wondering if anyone was planning on watching it... i will be watching jon stewart, because i'm pretty sure that the crack investigative news team from whnt tv19 in huntsville was totally a failure in trying to prove something that has been unproven for thousands of years.

if the tv 19 people really found proof, i'm pretty sure it'd be on a bigger broadcast than a piddlin' local news show in north alabama.

let me know if there's anything more interesting than that lil dipwad kid who says he was there... and no one can figure out that kids lie, so they believe him...

Ah, ignorance is bliss. If you had conducted even the slightest bit of research, you would have discovered that WHNT is NOT the originator of the topic. The story is that of a young boy, Colton Burpo, and his experience several years ago during surgery for a ruptured appendix. Colton's dad, Todd, wrote a book, Heaven Is For Real, based on information Colton divulged over a period of years following his, Colton's, surgery.
If you're interested, Channel 19 will be airing the story tonight.
Colton (his parents should be ashamed) had what is termed a "near death experience". He believes he saw heaven, even though the phenomena has been explained scientifically. Good for him. If he believes it despite the evidence against it, more power to him.

His dad however is a shyster of the worst kind, trying to capitalize on his son's experience by pandering to the gullible. If there is a hell, there is a rung waiting for him.

Most NDE's are accompanied by tunnel experiences, lives flashing before eyes, seeing long-lost loved ones, etc. I don't believe Colton relayed having experienced what is usually regarded as NDE.
"But, he saw dead relatives!"
None he had ever known or met.
"He saw lights!"
Not at the end of a tunnel.
The boy described things that he could not possibly have known. Your disbelief doesn't disprove his experience. Condemning his dad to a hell you don't believe in only makes you look silly. Many things "explained scientifically" have been explained differently with time.
Again, Colton's experience was anything but typical.

Is you is or is you ain't? Last I checked and the last my wife knew, I was/am all man, with child number 3 on the way.
Do you have a point? If you'd like, we could arrange a meeting to discuss things.

So they say. I saw the two on TV and dad's body language said to me - and I admit I'm no expert - that he is a shyster.

He reminded me very much of balloon boy's dad.

I do appreciate that you understand me better than Bill, though. Thanks for that.

I'll take that as a compliment. I met a woman like me once. She was scary! All that facial hair. . .
When I was about 5 or 6 years old my sister and I were playing outside late in the evening. As a joke she suddenly yelled, "run, there's a lion in the driveway"!! I looked and saw "something" (neighbor's dog) but swore to my mom I had seen a lion! Even after my sister told me it was a dog I knew well, and she'd been teasing me, I still swore I had "seen a lion".

Who knows what he's been told about a heaven. Who knows if he'd been told about dead relatives. We only have his parents word for what he did and didn't know. People talk about dead relatives and a very small child can be taking in that information subconsciously. Think of your own childhood.

People have "dreams" while they're awake and say they can see their bedroom, husband/wife in bed with them, all sorts of things associated with semi-sleep and unconsciousness. I've had those "experiences" myself when I was especially tired. Think of the hallucinations you can have when you're sick/feverish or on medication.

Years ago I read an article that said a doctor was refraining from talking about anything serious pertaining to a patient during surgery because he had noticed that even under sedation the patients blood pressure would rise if anything "upsetting" was said about his/her condition. Makes sense, because you're only deep asleep during surgery, so of course you still have your facilities.

if i had even the slightest bit of interest in the story itself, i might have conducted a slight bit of interest...

as it was, i saw the commercial on the tv while waiting for the mentalist, and then wrote the post.

what interested me was the reactions to the story from the people that regularly post in this forum, not the story itself.

You cared so little about the story that you started a new thread. I have to disagree with your argument, but we have a common like of The Mentalist: great show.
