I was wondering if anyone else heard the advertisement that I heard on Classic Rock 105 today. The advertisement was for a nation-wide raffle that is taking place. The winner of the raffle gets to have sex with a real-life porn star with the agreement that it is video taped. This is offensive! Why is this being advertised here on our local airwaves especially in the middle of the day during the summer when kids could possibly be listening? I think that citizens of the Shoals area that are offended by this should let this radio station know about it. This is something that should not be tolerated here if we truly have the type of moral conviction that this area is reputed to have. Let me know what everyone thinks.

Yep Bob and Tom in the morning-I had them on one morning when they first started and had a couple of young boys in the car-I was driving along and really not paying attention until the boys started laughing uncontrollably- I turned the channel immediately. This show should be on late night-adult themed; not early morning.

Still, nothing about a raffle.

What is disgusting about the site? It's a classic rock radio site. The intended audience isn't the elderly and children. Is the picture of AC/DC offensive? Well, they're no Ricky Nelson, but..
I refer you to the repeated use of the word "crap." Perhaps it makes up the majority of the program director's vocabulary, but not that of the station's intended audience. I've listened to the station from time to time. The music is mediocre at times, but not offensive.

Perhaps the webpage designer found placing the words "dog" and "crap" in such close proximity to be talented; I found it to be inane.
Bob and Tom suck. They were on 102.9 here in Nashville, but dropped them for a Clear Channel station.

Now we've got Free Beer & Hot Wings in the mornings, much better show. Google it and check it out.

I highly doubt there was an ad during the day about a raffle to screw a porn star. Stations have pretty strict policies on who can advertise and when.

If you are really concerned about it, tape a few hours of broadcast around the time you first heard the ad. If you have it on tape, then you have evidence to complain. Without that, not much you can do.

You're obviously not the intended audience. It's juvenile, but it fits. If a classic rock station presented the humorless tone of NPR, it would fail miserably.

Then I'm not sure what the intended audience of the music programming is. My friends who are under 21, or even older, make gagging motions at the sound of classic rock. I tell them their time is coming.

Of course, the intended audience could be totally male. I've heard they never grow up...

I love Bob and Tom, used to listen to them every morning when I lived in Nashville.
And for those upset, I think that Big River Broadcasting is now owned by Clear Channel Entertainment.

As far as I know, Big River and Self are two ENTIRELY different companies. Anyone know differently?

I do agree that I would have to hear the ad to actually believe that it was real.

Kids don't know that porn exists? Really? Is that possible?

Don't worry, no one under 18 will be allowed to win that raffle. In the meantime, just take solace in the fact that the industry's revenues are falling -- the porn producers are so desperate they've turned to advertising in Alabama.
Yesterday, that girl who does the mid-day show, said "someone should off Al Gore." Feel how you want to about Gore, but calling for his assassination is over the top. If she had said the same thing about the acting President - she would get a visit from the boys in black. Not sure, but I suspect calling for the killing of a former Vice President would warrant the same visit. Porn, calls for assassanation.....what a nice bunch of people.

Part of Bob and Tom's gimmick is to run fake, outlandish commercials. I'm guessing that's probably what it was. There is no way an ad sales manager, traffic manager, and program manager would all let that kind of spot run.

As for "offing Al Gore", what context was it used in?

She said "Stop global warming and all the talk about it, off Al Gore. The world would be better off." What a girl. Of course, I know you would love that.
