Or responsible parents and good Americans. Of course, if you like porn and think its appropriate to call for the "offing" of public figures - its just cute.

How would a kid even know what "off Al gore" even means? If they know what that means, they have already been exposed to more offensive material than what the lady on the radio (allegedly) said.

Part of Bob and Tom's gimmick is to run fake, outlandish commercials. I'm guessing that's probably what it was. There is no way an ad sales manager, traffic manager, and program manager would all let that kind of spot run.

As for "offing Al Gore", what context was it used in?

Maybe running fake, outlandish commercials is the problem. If they are offensive whether they are fake or actual commercials they are still offensive.

LMAO - you took the words right out of my mouth.

For the record... it's a radio station, that all of you offended don't need to listen to if you don't approve or like what they are saying - no one is holding a gun to your head. I'm sorry you're offended, but last time I checked, it's a free country where they allow freedom of speech. I am guessing the ad itself was cleaned up for the air waves (enough, as in no cuss words or vulgar language - as much as porn isn't something everyone else wants to hear about, it's not a word that is on par with anything I might type here that will get stars typed instead of the actual word)... I didn't even think about it possibly being a spoof, good call all that thought of that - which I'm guess it most likely was.

I'm sorry children may hear it, however if you have children in the car, don't listen to Bob and Tom or other radio stations in the AM that you don't want them to listen to. It's up to you as a parent to be aware of what your children are hearing there are plenty of adults, including myself, that enjoy this station, A LOT! They actually play good music, not the crap they are selling as music these days. Oops did I just say crap... wow.. I better watch myself... with my poop mouth... I wouldn't want to offend anyone that can't take the word crap... maybe I shouldn't say sucks, or doo doo either.

I would hate to see how much most of you would cry hearing all the other stations in the earth that aren't aired here in this town.

Seriously - maybe this should be played in the evening however as stated.. the target audience is ADULT, not child, or uptight folks. If you all thing Bob and Tom are bad, I'd hate for you to listen to DC101's Elliott in the AM show, they would put Bob and Tom in the hole (with comedy and crude behavior...) to each his own.. I like to laugh, and enjoy a good shock here and there...

:: rant over :: (for now).
So, someone near me was listening to the country station...and this guy is singing about drinking Jose Quervo. He drinks and drinks and drinks. He drinks till he's drunk, and can't remember how much he's had.
The whole time I'm hearing this song, I keep thinking about the little kids, and old god fearing ladies that are hearing this song, and are having to live through it. The song sucked. It sucked real bad. The song sucked hard enough to pull a soft ball through a waterhose bad.
The Big Dog 105.5 is not owned by the Self's. Mike Self, Manager of Shoals Suzuki, recently charged with embezzlement from Tom Jones Insurance, used to own it. It is currently owned by Urban Radio, out of Florida. Urban Radio is owned by an African American gentleman named Kevin Wagner from Mobile, AL. Cheryl Self, the sales manager is wife of Kevin Dwight Self, brother of Mike Self. Kevin is cool though, his daughter is even cooler.

you'll never guess what just came on my co-workers internet radio... no lie... the Jose Cuervo song... 10 rounds.. yada yada yada... kill me now!
First, they're not that stupid. Why would they put an advertisement like that on the air. It was simply a story - the end. Secondly, of all the things you choose to complain about, it's this? The economy sucks, gas prices are through the roof , and , yes, there is still a war going on in Iraq. Have we forgotten about all that already? Choose your battles, people. This one isn't worth fighting...because it's silly. Did you even bother calling the station and asking the jock about it? No. You took something out of context and blew it WAY out of proportion. Seriously, it's not THAT big of a deal.
Just to clarify ownership of the radio stations - While Clear Channel prevously owned Classic Rock 105.5 and WLAY, as well as a few other stations, Clear Channel is no longer owner of any station in the Shoals. Urban Radio owns those stations now. Big River Broadcasting is a locally-owned group. Stations in their group are WQLT, WXFL, WLVS, and WSBM. They are not corporate-run and are a very family-oriented group.
