Methanol shouldn't effect any rubber in cars made since the late 90s, when congress mandated all vehicles use multi-fuels. Ethanol used to rot rubber hoses in the older cars. Formulation of the hoses was changed.

Seems I remember about 15 or 20 years ago , TVA had a pilot project to "cook" methanol out of that bio-mass you referred to. While I am all about that kind of fuel, it just needs to be labeled as such. Maybe newer cars it will be ok. Hope so, just remember a '92 Buick of my moms had in the book to not use methanol, although ethanol was ok. Of corse that was back in the gasohol days.
If all that is fixed, then yes for sure, methanol would be great.
I am still looking forward to plug-in hybrids
as I think that is the near future.
I think, also, it would be great if towns and cities would let ANY all electric vehicle on their streets without tags etc. like in retirement communities where they use electric golf carts for general transportation.
If I could drive the city streets in an electric golf cart, I bet I could probably not use more than $30 worth of gas a month. Screw the oil companies .
