Hunter's Education Code

I was just informed today that I will have to take a Hunter's test, then go to an all day event, and then receive a hunting code. I have to do all this to just get a fishing license. I do not understand why I have to do this, especially since I do not hunt! A friend just recently took this test and said that the only thing on her test with anything to do with water was about ducks! Oh and did I mention that the all day event to get your code is not held all the time? If someone who is going to fish with you already has their license then you can just check that you will be SUOERVISED by them! Hello, I do not need to be supervised since I have been fishing since I was a little kid! So if I want to go fishing next weekend (which I do), I probably will not have all this completed to do so. This is so outlandish!

Where did you try to get your lic? Try the court house maybe they will have the right answers. The official site doesn't mention anything about the hunting code for fishing lic.

You only have to take the Hunter Ed. Class if you are buying a hunting license. Just go to Wal Mart, almost any bait store or the alabamaoutdoor website and purchase a fishing license. You can combo the licenses but not necessary if you do not hunt. Also be aware that the license expires in August

I did try the Alabama Outdoor's site, filled all the information out and submitted it and then it said that I did not fill out all information. The information that it wanted was the code number. My friend went to Walmart to get their fishing license and they said they could not give the license without the hunting code number. So they went to the courthouse and got a cd so they could take this so called test online, then they are suppose to go to this all day event and learn something and this is supposedly where they get this code. I also look on the Alabama Outdoor site and another site for Alabama to see if this information was posted but did not find anything but like I said earlier, I tried to get my license off Alabama Outdoor and they wanted this hunting code number. Sounds to me like another money maker! Wow, this is such a FREE county! All I want to do is a little fishing not take all the fish from the rivers and creeks!
