AW, Bill, what a cutie. Smiler

I'm so old that I remember walking to Sparko to shop (small town - ha!), which changed to Hi-Lo, then to something else - I'm so old I can't remember. Wink

I'm so old that I remember saying 80s slang...such as bogus, fer shur, gag me with a spoon, gnarly, to the max, and starting every sentence with the word "like". Like, are we going steady or what?

I'm so old that I remember & wore blue eyeshadow, parachute pants, leg warmers, jellies, big hair held in place by an entire can of Rave & the side ponytail. Oh yeah, there are pictures that will never make it into the family photo album. HAHA

How about that!! I learned to swim there too, and had big fun jumping off the high dive when I was 7 years old. Good times for all the kids in Tuscumbia back then. I wish we had one now for the grandkids! Big Grin.....nice pic btw, cool Bill Cool

My husband use to talk about hanging out at the pool in the 50's and i think he even lifeguarded there one summer.
He was raised in the "Hoodlum's Corner" area of Sheffield and also talked about eating at a hang out called the Good 'Nuff Cafe...at least i think that was the name of the place.
Anyone else remember the place? His mom worked there for several years.

I'm old enough to remember when it was Aqua Net (lacquer Roll Eyes) or nothing at all. That's what it took to hold the Bubble hair do's and BeeHives.
...as i got older we all strived to have the perfect "That Girl" flip.

Wasn't it at Sky Park?
I remember my Mom talking about going there when she was young. They had a large slide going into the water and my Mom made the mistake of grabbing hold of the side as she was sliding down and wound slicing open of her fingers.

If you are familiar with the Cox Creek Parkway and Chisholm Highway intersection you know where the fire station is located.

That was the location of Crystal Plunge. It was actually outside the Florence Raiders right field fence.

Water was gravity fed from Cox Creek into a warming pool and then into the swimming pool.

I assume the city owned it along with the ball field which was the location of the North Alabama State Fair.

Wow, hadn't thought of that in years!

As I recall, it had a green light and red light.
If there had been a traffic fatality the red one would be turned on. No fatalities= green light.

Always thought that was rather morbid.

I remember Dick Biddle urging everyone to drive safely, and keep the Owl's eye burning green.

I remember when the TimesDaily newspaper was the Florence Times/Tri-Cities Daily, and was an afternoon paper (except for the Sunday paper).

I remember Alley Oop, Dick Tracy, Eek & Meek, and Priscilla's Pop in the funnies.

I loved Pricilla's Pop...and Tizzy!

When the paper went from evening to morning my grandfather cancelled his subscription because he said he didn't have time to read the paper in the morning...

I'm so old I remember when one of my cousins was a paperboy for TD and the papers had to folded into small squares, really tight and they were tossed to the customers yard, from a big pouch while on a bicycle. Now that was a long time ago!!! Smiler

My brother had a paper route....he also sold the paper called "GRIT", or tried to...lol
I'm so old i did not realize small AM/FM radios were becoming obsolete Eeker
After yesterday's bad weather episodes i decided to buy a small, battery operated radio to carry to work in my purse on bad weather days.
I went to both Wal-Marts and both Kmarts and i found larger clock radios, and various MP3 players with FM built in....but just small radios? nope.
I finally went to Fred's and they had just a few.

I'm so old, I remember when Maggie had the latest snake hairdo and turned people to stone. Wasn't a good look for her.

PuF, my Friend!?! Don't side up with her!?! First Ed, now you?? I can't take it!

Three old men are talking about their aches, pains and bodily functions.

One seventy year old man says, "I have this problem. I wake up every morning at seven and it takes me twenty minutes to pee."

An eighty year old man says, "My case is worse. I get up at eight and I sit there and grunt and groan for half an hour before I finally have a bowel movement."

The ninety year old man says, "At seven I pee like a horse, at eight I crap like a cow." "So what's your problem?" asked the others.

"I don't wake up until nine."

BTW, very lame ED, lol
