If any of you were planning to attend the DreamVision "Press Event" at the Shoals Marriott, then forget about it.

You will not be welcome.

I called the hotel to ask about the location of this event and they told me that it is by "invitation only."

The Marriott representative did not (or said she did not) even know the time of the event.  This morning WAFF reported that it would start at 10:10,  The company's web site says it starts at 11:00.  It will be live streamed by Channel 19 (WHNT), so if you wish to see it, you might wish to check what is on that channel at the earlier time.

WHNT has an online video of a brief interview with four DreamVision representatives which they tout as answering the questions that people have been asking about this project.  It is just short of worthless for that purpose, as you can see from viewing the clip.   DreamVision is heavy into information management and control.  WHNT staff did no serious probing.

Something is keeping letters from showing up correctly on this forum.  The tops of capital letters are cut off.  Are others having this problem?

I yam what I yam and that's all I yam--but it is enough!

No problem here.  Maybe it's the bifocals.

Seriously, when I had the old line kind, they would distort images.  That can't be the case here.

But sometimes when I'm working with WordPerfect, the lines mess up, don't line up.  But they don't show up here.  There was a line in a couple of your post within the past week that looked like they had been redacted, typed over.  Never saw that before on this forum.  Could be with your computer and not TD?  Do you cut/paste your posts?

I cut and paste only material from outside sources, just as others do.  And I always identify the source.

Wul CountryHick, I knew the company had advertised the 11;00 time, but Channel 48 cited 10:10, thus engendering possible confusion.  In case others had encountered the same conflict, I was advising my forum friends of this situation. I know the particulars of this dreamy company as well as anyone here. I watched their hokey press event and continue to be unimpressed.

I got that.  For clarity, maybe I should have said "cut/paste your comments."

I was just wondering if by some chance your computer was transposing something somehow.  You asked a question.  I gave it my best shot.  I've got no other explanation.

Do you?

Follow up.  As I write this, 10 hours ago, you wrote you had problems [on this post].  You also replied to other post around that same time, not mentioning any problems.  No one else did either.  Two hours later, your problem on this post cleared up.  Maybe it was a problem somewhere creating this topic ... or ... your guess is as good as mine.  And that's something I don't say often.

Robinson said the park project would be funded entirely in private equity. He said financing is in place, and that investors will be revealed at ground breaking.

If this is the case, no problems for us local yokels. For all I know we could have folks like the Poarch Band of the Creek Indians coming here. Might be the Gayzebo Quartet of the Cherokee tribe coming to scalp tourists for all I know. As long as the local and state governments aren't involved the taxpayer bears no risk, no foul no harm.

_________________________________________________________________

The Poarch Creek Indians are descendants of a segment of the original Creek Nation, which once covered almost all of Alabama and Georgia. Unlike many eastern Indian tribes, the Poarch Creeks were not removed from their tribal lands and have lived together for almost 200 years in and around the reservation in Poarch, Alabama. The reservation is located eight miles northwest of Atmore, Alabama in rural Escambia County, and 57 miles east of Mobile.

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians is the only federally recognized Indian Tribe in the state of Alabama, operating as a sovereign nation with its own system of government and bylaws. The Tribe operates a variety of economic enterprises, which employ hundreds of area residents. Poarch Creek Indian Gaming manages three gaming facilities in Alabama, including: the Wind Creek Casino & Hotel in Atmore; Creek Casino Wetumpka; and, Creek Casino Montgomery. The Poarch Band of Creek Indians is an active partner in the state of Alabama, contributing to economic, educational, social and cultural projects benefiting both tribal members and residents of these local communities and neighboring towns.

It seems that nearly every culture practiced scalping:

Certain tribes of Native Americans practiced scalping, in some instances up until the end of the 19th century. Of the approximately 500 bodies at the Crow Creek massacre site, 90 percent of the skulls show evidence of scalping. The event took place around 1325 AD.[6]
