McFarland Heights and the Riverbend Addition areas (both official subdivision names) - better known as Riverview and Palisade are wonderful. Great older houses, great neighbors, super value. Various members of my family have lived there since the late 1950s in 6 different houses at any given time and would not live anywhere else.

And, those who live in and love the area are not concerned about the location of "the hood" Phoenix - all of the neighborhood is part of the experience and those bothered by such would be better suited to live in maybe Lexington?

The neighborhood has a great mix of folks. I can think of more than dozen lawyers, half as many doctors, a couple of architects and law enforcement officers, social workers, college professors, decorators, lots of business owners and the ages range from newlyweds to nearly deads and everything in between. To me the houses have more personality than newer developments full of McMansions that all look alike. The architecture ranges from ultra-traditional to ultra modern from the 50s and 60s.
It is a great neighborhood that houses many professionals. My aunt & uncle live over there, as well as two sets of friends. I talk and visit with them all regularly enough to know that they haven't had any problems. Other than the neighborhood behind the UNA dorms on Pine St., to me that neighborhood has more charm, character & personality than any other in Florence. Plus, it smells good over there right now---there's a heavy concentration of things blooming ;-)

Salty, you should go for it!
