I realize this will probably end up in the Misc forum or somewhere else, but I put it here in Politics because it seems to me to fit here best.

There used to be a character in the funny papers that always walked around with a raining cloud over his head. Everything was bad, and when he showed up , something bad was bound to happen.

His name was Joe Btfsplk .

It seems to me there is some collective mentality amongst the right wingers on this forum, that have adopted the identity of Joe Btfsplk. Nothing , especially in politics, goes your way, damm Obama this, damm Obama that, and on and on.There are a few on here I have blocked just because since they appeared on the forum, they have never had a single constructive statement on any issue. Cap Crusader and Jobe are two of those.

At any rate, warmer weather is coming, more bike rides, fishing, going to the Gulf Coast, or just laying on the boat floating down the river manufacturing Vitamin D in large quantities while cooling off with an ice cold beer, leaving less time to waste trying to educate the Joe Btfsplks on the forum,

But, y'all feel free to continue to grumble,  moan and groan , and make yourselves miserable whining about somebody getting a few free cell phone minutes.

Well, Joe, all the worry about the debt is just talk., What is really important is jobs. It's still "the economy stupid".

I hope Obama wakes up and quits falling into this Republican fear tactic, and quits worring so much about the debt. After all, he has increased US spending the least of any president in modern history.

You do need a vacation

Now that is funny. I can see how demos can "go on vacation" and not worry about things when they choose to ignore the facts. Bet more people would like to be able to do that, but unfortunately they can't afford it, seeing as how they've lost everything they had under obama, and there's no hope of getting it back anytime soon. Maybe they could add one more give away program-"vacation packages for the ones whose lives are being ruined by the left". Naw, the gimmethats would grab all the vacation packages, claiming that standing in line to get on all the new government programs is tiring for them and they DESERVE the vacations.

If you are really that concerned about your fellow man and their employment problems, I encourage you to write your two senators and your rep encouraging them to support the Jobs Bill Obama tried to get thru Congress 2 years ago. As I recall , it would have put 18,000 people to work in Alabama.

It's kind of hard to be "fooled" by Fox since I haven't watched it in about 8 or more years. The last time I watched Fox the liberal E.D. Hill was on, and slobbering all over any lefty they had as a guest. I'm also not fooled by the left's LIES about jobs, and it's been pointed out many many times that a liberal's "math skills" leave a lot to be desired.

Listen , learn

Great advice, Seeweed!

I highly doubt that the entire world watches and is "fooled" by Fox.

Didn't the jobs bill you mentioned actually get signed into law?

How'd that work out?

No, what you are referring to was the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and it seems to have worked out quite well, as the following graph shows :

As of last month our economy is now creating 193,000 jobs a month, not loosing 850,000 as was the case under the Bush reign of ruin.

I am referring to the American Jobs Act that President Obama sent to Congress in 2011, and they Senate Republicans refused to even let it be discussed on the Senate floor, Not to mention Boner won't have anything to do with it. All that resistance just so they could try to make the Obama admin a failure, so if you are out of work, or know somebody that is, , as I remember it , the American Jobs Act would have produced 18,000 more jobs in Alabama alone.

The President has tried, Republicans are intent on the failure of the American way of life, just to spite him.

During warm weather on a week-end try out the Yellow Creek Water Falls, so many scantily clad young ladies there you don't even need to bring your own, but you better bring a cooler of cold beer.

The major accomplishment of this little screwup was to remove the primary check on the religious nuts in Iran, so now we gotta spend money worrying about them.

I agree, and that is why I did not vote for the person who's stated policy would be to take from those of us who are middle class , and give that money to the top 2% of the wealthy in this country.

His VP candidate is still trying to do just that.

Now, I'm sure during the past few months you heard a lot obout income distribution in this country, but do you really , truly , understand just what this is about ?

Take a look at this video and get an idea , because , well, it probably aint what you think it is :

Now, I will tell you right up front, that I do not think it is right, for Ryan, and the Republicans to try to pass a budget (which house republicans passed, Senate would not take it up) , which reduces the savings I put money into all my life since I was 14, just so they can give it to the richest 1 or 2% of the people in this country, and that is exactly what they are fighting to do.

That, my friend, is wealth redistrubiton that is really going on, and that is why I support a President and a party that does not want that to happen.

That video assumes that the "wealth pie" is static and there are only so many slices to go around which is simply not the case. It also offers no solution besides parroting the lie of the left which is, "you are poor because someone else is rich".

I tend to think that "you are poor because someone else is greedy"

This country has been here before, in the 20s . It was called the "Gilded Age", and the distribution of wealth in the country was just about where it is right now. Things have a way of sorting themselves out, back then it was the Great Depression, we may still have one to come dependingn which bunch controls our government inthe near future.

How does someone being greedy make someone else poor?

How does being rich make someone else poor ?

Neither are accurate, but both do contain some truth.

So now you say "neither are accurate" after you just said that someone being greedy equals someone being poor?

should govt regulate greed? If they regulate greed should they also take on the other deadly sins as well?

does anyone think the ceo of a corporation is worth 380times more than the AVERAGE employee?
the AVERAGE employee must work over 30 days to equal what the AVERAGE CEO makes in ONE HOUR. the last time the pay scale was this skewed, it was called the "gilded age".  from the gilded age we have unions and the standard of labor we still use, today. as well as many other social standards such as "women’s suffrage" were born in this age.

those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it.

I actually edited that statement, but for some reason it didn't make it into the post.

Let's take and example of how greed of the super wealthy can make someone poor: I'll give two examples:

A greedy rich person can buy a politician - many are for sale.

Then they can get that bought and paid for politician to skew a budget such as the one Paul Ryan has put forth and the House passed - Senate would have nothing to do with it tho.

A thing in Ryan's budget is to end Medicare (a most helpful insurance plan especially for the old and less well off) , an insurance plan that they paid for most of their working lives, and still pay for , and just give a voucher for $650 to a person on Medicare and just let them find whatever insurance plan they could find, and pay the difference themselves. Now, Ryan's plan is to do that , NOT in order to reduce the defecit, or even to pay down the debt, but to give more tax breaks to the super rich that that video clip talked about. According to Money.com today, that would ammount to a $200,000 savings for those people. That my friend, is shifting the cost of government from the richest to the old, retired, and poor in this country . This is wealth redistribution from poor to rich, and it is a result of greed.

A second example.

Two brothers, last year made $4B each in their oil business. Yes, the Koch Brothers, the sons of the man who started the John Birch Society. They are purchasing their politicians with orders to eleminate the EPA so they can pollute more and save money from having to produce their product in a safe manner.

Now, I hope you would agree that if pollution from dirty energy sources is killing people, that it is a tragedy, even tho it is not your own child, or may be even a Black child, but that making people sick is wrong when something could be done to prevent it, but isn't so that people who are making $4B a year can make some more.

That's greed, and I also hope, you can agree that making people sick is making people poorer , rich and poor are not ALWAYS decided by money.

It is up to a business to decide how much they pay their CEO and not the govt.
