The thread title is a quote from Gollum of course. FV was sharing riddles that she had written on another website & inspired me to write one of my own. So here we go...

I love little children
and rarely do I frown
but put too many candles on my cake
& I'll soon not be around

I'm really rather famous
You've probably seen my movies
I'm the c..c..coolest guy you'll ever meet
And my magic top is groovy.

Who am I?

Uh, the sock question is based on logic. Not gonna play that. No. Not gonna do it!

Seriously, we've been having fun with riddles on another site and it gave me an idea. I like the Brain Den, but many of their questions are logic, mathematical, etc. I prefer the riddles--so...I was thinking that maybe Joy and I could start a small forum just for riddles.

BTW, she is great at writing them.

This riddle--not mine---I put on the other site, and TNT got it immediately. I wouldn't have gotten it in a million years. So here it is, and don't blame me for the answer, but I thought it was hilarious.

Riddle: What's the first thing you know?

I think TheBaldGuy knows who it is...so you can consider his reply a great hint. Big Grin

Those were great guesses, ladies, but it's not Francis or Rosie.

FV, thank you for the compliment and for the idea in the first place. It's fun. I have no idea how to create a small forum. Is it difficult?

And why is my signature pic all squished down? Frowner I worked on that thing on photobucket for way longer than I can justify and it was cute, dang it! Ugh!

If you pulled them out in the dark, you couldn't see what color they are. So is the answer none?

Although, you did say in MY sock drawer and in my sock drawer every sock is folded within it's match. So you are guaranteed a match every time. Big Grin

I thought about that angle but the riddle never said "see" the pair, only "be sure" you had a matching pair. So 5 would surely be the answer.

5?

Five is the answer.

Here's another one. How many would you have to pull out in the dark in order to be sure you had a matching pair of brown socks in hand?
sorry guys, i forgot about this. yes 5 is the answer. lol. best i can guess about the brown is 18. Big Grin

nothing?
This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it? It looks so plain you would think nothing was wrong with it! In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is unusual though. Study it, and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out! Try to do so without any coaching!

The second sentence has a question mark. It should be a period (or exclamation point)
