Ala. Sheriff’s Association to oppose ‘permitless carry’

https://whnt.com/news/alabama-...se-permitless-carry/

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WHNT) — Multiple agencies, including the Alabama Sheriff’s Association, will hold a press conference next week to voice opposition to bills allowing “permitless carry” in the state.

ASA said the bills “pose a grave threat” to law enforcement and citizens as crime rises across the nation.

“I feel like the support is there,” Sorrell said. “I do think we’re going to see this bill pass this year. And I’m real excited. It’s been a four-year project for me.”

Brookside Police: 1 of 38 Alabama law enforcement agencies with 'mine resistant' vehicles

https://abc3340.com/news/local...e-resistant-vehicles

In May of 2012 the town of Brookside acquired a utility truck valued at $50,458.

Then in October 2013, the town acquired a “Mine Resistant Vehicle” valued at $412,000. This acquisition predates allegations coming to light about alleged aggressive policing.

But after drivers began reporting an uptick in “policing for profit,” something first reported by ABC 33/40 in 2019, the town acquired three additional vehicles: two utility trucks valued at $94,171 each and a utility ambulance valued at $96,466.

Naio, I believe the conversation is permit less carry.  I would like everyone who carries to complete a class on safety, laws, etc,  However I ride the fence since I believe the constitution gives everyone the right to own and carry.

As far as your post, you might research more.  every town, county state is different. Often speed traps etc. are admin/politicians sending the order down the chain. in most areas very little of the money from tickets goes to police. I don't remember exact numbers however at one time a $90 ticket, $10 would go to police. The other thing, i understood a lot of vehicles came from federal govt.

that is the conversation you and jh want to have. i was pointing out how fickle some right wingers are when it comes to their support of the police.
