At least we now can say for sure that Claiborne Wilberforce Humphries is "freeeeeeeeee" without a trace of irony. AYBS is among the all-time sitcom greats, and it would have been nothing without John Inman (with Trevor Bannister a close second)...

Many thanks to PBS for bringing us such high-quality comedy in a world in which it is so desperately needed.

I love "The Vicar of Dibley". That is one of the funniest series ever. I didn't really like "Keeping Up Appearances", but that was more due to the writing not the acting. And, I think you are right, he will be missed.

I like "Vicar of Dibley" also. "Keeping Up Appearances" basically had the same plot-line for every episode. You could map it out closely and the same thing always happened. I enjoyed it mainly for Patricia Routledge who played Hyacinth. I thought she was hilarious and she is a good physical comedian as well. I love the one where she scales the wall! LOL
Wait, I've got them confused. I like "Keeping Up Appearances"; it's "Are You Being Served" that I didn't like as much, again, not due to lack of talent. John Inman was clearly a very talented actor. Yes, Hyacinth is a hoot. I also like "Waiting on God" - isn't that the name? It is set in a retirement home.

Yes, "Are You Being Served" was set in a department store.
