Check out this FBI video and Transcript of John Murtha (below). The "Abscam" investigation is just the tip of the iceburg.

Here is a teaser:

MURTHA [12:06:07]: A business commitment that makes it imperative for me to help him. Just, let me tell you something. I'm sure if -- and there's a lot of things I've done up here, with environmental regulations, with all kinds of waivers of laws and regulations. If it weren't for being in the district, people would say... "Well that son of a *****, I'm gonna tell you something....This guy is, uh, you know, on the take." Well once they say that, what happens? Then they start going around looking for the goddamn money. So I want to avoid that by having some tie to the district. That's all. That's the secret to the whole thing.

WEINBERG: You give us your banks where you want the money deposited.

MURTHA: How much money are we talking about?

AMOROSO: Well, you tell me, how many do you want?

MURTHA: Well let me find out what is a reasonable figure that will get their attention, because there's a couple of banks have really done me some favors in the past, that I'd like to put some money in. And one guy in particular, a savings bank, solid -- all three of them of course solid banks. Maybe I only want to go to one, I don't know, I have to think about this a little bit, and I'll get back to you with what I think would make an impression. You know I'm not gonna go out of hand, but I want to let these guys know that uh that I did it and that they'll be appreciative of it and it will be helpful to me.

I wonder why he didn't go down for this?

I did find this in the google.

""Murtha was one of eight members of Congress lured to a Washington, D.C., townhouse by a team of FBI agents posing as representatives of a fictitious Arab sheik. They handed out briefcases filled with $50,000 in return for helping the sheik gain residency in the United States."

Noting that Murtha "is not squeaky clean," the Brattleboro, Vt., Reformer reported that the congressman "did not take the cash" offered by the agents. Instead, "he asked the fake sheik to consider investing some money in his struggling home town, Johnstown."

The Washington Post referred to the incident as "an ethical scrape" in which Murtha was "named as an unindicted co-conspirator and testified against two House colleagues."

But, a videotape of a Jan. 7, 1980 Abscam-related meeting involving Murtha shows that the congressman's rejection of the offered bribe was less than definite. "I'm not interested. I'm sorry," Murtha told the FBI agent, but added that he meant "at this point."
Well... badaboom, badabing.

The TD has a new look.

No warning.

Just [B]BAM BAM!

And the video won't load...

Gotta'a get the kinks worked out.

The pages need more scaling. They're fixed size.

Over all, the look is much nicer.

It's much cleaner appearing.

However, the forum post would be beter if a "test how this looks before posting" type feature was available.

And the select text feature (for making bold text, etc.) needs some tweaking. It's still kind of chasing, but can't be caught.

But from the old, it's a significant improvement.
So why is Pelosi supporting him? Get to the third paragraph in this excerpt:
GOP Lawmakers Float Ethics Probe of Murtha
Roll Call / John Bresnahan,
Roll Call Staff Nov. 18, 2005

Republican lawmakers say that ties between Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and his brother's lobbying firm, KSA Consulting, may warrant investigation by the House ethics committee...

According to a June 13 article in The Los Angeles Times, the fiscal 2005 defense appropriations bill included more than $20 million in funding for at least 10 companies for whom KSA lobbied. Carmen Scialabba, a longtime Murtha aide, works at KSA as well.

KSA directly lobbied Murtha's office on behalf of seven companies, and a Murtha aide told a defense contractor that it should retain KSA to represent it, according to the LA Times.

In early 2004, Murtha reportedly leaned on U.S. Navy officials to sign a contract to transfer the Hunters Point Shipyard to the city of San Francisco, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. A company called Lennar Inc. had right to the land, and Laurence Pelosi, nephew to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), was an executive with the firm at that time.

Murtha also inserted earmarks in defense bills that steered millions of dollars in federal research funds toward companies owned by children of fellow Pennsylvania Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D).
What William Turner said has a lot of merit. Our judicial system seems to have changed immensly in the last few years.

Someone an rob a convenience store and go to prison for years, but molest a child they "PLEA" their way out of jail. Or even the man that kidnapped and robbed the 2 women from Indiana and took them to Russellville is still walking the streets,....BUT, catch a someone take a drink, they are history.

Rightfully so, drinking SHOULD have jail time, but for goodness sake, things are just getting WAY out of hand on our District Attorney's plea arrangements.

Okay, I got a little off topic again, but I needed to vent, I guess, lol
