Yes, they're blind Alabama cavefish.

For more information on Key and Collier Caves, as well as their location, you can go here:

Key Cave

Thanks for that link, e.
Very Interesting!
…I have been in what I thought was Key Cave many times.

I entered through a small hole in the side of a steep hill off Coffee slough a ways down from Collier Cave.

I then belly crawled about fifty feet to the right. This opened up into a maze of perpendicular tunnels .

The profile of the tunnels resembled a “keyhole”. I assumed the keyhole like appearance was why the cave was referred to as Key Cave.

The one entrance was the only entrance I ever found. There may have been others.

It was very difficult to find.

Was I in Key Cave…anyone know?

I read some more about those caves. I think I might be scared to go in those tight places that have water. Can you stand up in them? I read that you could get permission to go in now and that privilege is given out sparingly.
the water part is on one side of the cave, and the rest of it is tall and muddy. its as safe as any other cave.

It is, except for a recent "cave in" (or two or three or several) in the area in the past few years.
thats just the nature of the beast. when you are crawling thru a pigeon hole, you know the risk. thats why you leave an itinerary and a map, along with an expected exit time. its got its dangers, but what fun activity doesn't?
