Has anyone bought a Kindle from Amazon? Here's a link Kindle 2. This looks like a really cool "toy". I love to read and would love to be able to carry some of my favorite books with me without having to carry a stack of books. I've read the feedback on the website but I would like a more honest and less edited opinion. Thank you!

I have a Sony E-Reader and it holds a gazillion books but let me tell ya, invest in an Asus. We had it at the M&G, Storm to watch DF's web performance. Wink The cost is about the same as a Kindle or E Reader plus, the ASUS has wireless Internet capability and the capacity of a computer. You can download e books on it and read them through Adobe. Much easier than having to download them on your computer and transfer them later.

My recomendation is the ASUS!!! Asus
Storm, unless you want to have access to certan newspapers and magazines, another e-reader would be less expensive. I understand the Kindle downloads the Wall Street Journal, etc., and is used for business people, etc.

I have a friend with a Sony e-reader and she loves it. She just wanted something for books, and that's what she has.

Check out the price difference. It's quite a bit. Kindle is connected to Amazon, so of course that's what Amazon pushes.

Put it on your Asus!

I don't think books in print will ever disappear but it's great to download a book if you're up in the middle of the night and want something new to read. You get it instantly without the trip to BAM. They're also cheaper.

Talk to the owner of K's Cove.

That looks really cool and the price is a lot better. What are the negatives? Also, does it have or can you download a Word type program to write on?

Mine came with Word already installed. The keyboard is tiny so it's difficult to type much. I wouldn't want to write War and Peace on it but for emailing, it's great! I will bring ours Monday so you can see it again.

Great! I remember yours. The link you attached goes to a 901 Eee. What model is yours?

He paid about 350 for ours.

How long have your had yours?
I don't personally have a Kindle, but my sister does. She has had hers about nine months now and absolutely loves it. If I could afford it, I would have one, too. The books download quickly and are cheaper than paper books. You also can read a part of the book and make up your mind if you want to buy it or not. That is great. It saves money! She would not part with hers. I asked her if she was tempted by the Kindle2 and she said she was not, that she was just so happy with hers. The new one does offer audio reading.

The exciting thing is that at some point educational books will be offered. No more lugging around 15 pounds of books in a backpack. I wish I had that while in school!!!
I've had my Kindle2 for a couple of weeks now. I love it! I like that you can download samples for free because I'm always rebuying books and then remembering that I've already read them. Now I can just download a sample and know before I buy. Plus, I like it that you can delete a book after you've bought it but get it back for free if you want it.

Books download quickly even for me - and I live in the sticks. I think at home my download is a 1G instead of 3G. I also like not having to worry about running out of something to read. I can have a new book in seconds or minutes without having to leave my house.

It's a neat little gadget and I'm happy to have it. Smiler
