When I was a small child, every Friday night we went to Rogers, JC Penney, and wound up at the Sears candy counter. Remember the Christmas area in the very back of the store? Santa and I had many substantive discussions there. Those were the days! The store was always crowded. I don't often go to Sears now, but when I do, the store is almost empty -- few customers and even fewer employees. I wish they were still downtown.
I remember we got an artificial Christmas tree from there when I was very young and we used it for 25 years or so.

Also we got our first tv set that had a remote control from there. We had to go down to the freight depot in East Florence to pick it up.

What is going in there or is it just going to be a vacant lot?

My first firearm came from that store back when Sears sold guns. I still have it.

Was there anything in the world worse than wearing brand new Tuffskin jeans to school?

I remember the dreaded Tuffskin label, one of the first clothing items I purchased with my own money at 13 was a pair of LEVIs.

I never liked that place. whenever I think of the Sears at that location, I remember buying clothes there. "Well, young man, we need to take you to the 'husky' section'. Yeah, that's a good memory! Smiler

Ever heard the line..."and your Mother dresses you funny"?

I believe you can thank my mother for that one... Big Grin
