WARNING: this will be almost assuredly a pointless post, with little interest in the topic at all... but 'Tis the season, so here i go...

i'm just curious... is there anyone besides me that hates their yard?
i don't mean ' oh i just hate my yard, i need to reseed it, or maybe sod, maybe i should call a landscaper..."

i mean " omg i hate theis crap, i wonder how much it'd cost to plow it up and pave it so i'd never have to cut it or deal with it again"

i see commercials for products and services and doodads and chemicals and whatnots... there's even companies than spraypaint your yard green.

OMG.

now.. i'm not goign to knock people who acctually enjoy getting otu and puttering aroudn in their yard.. putting in flowers, yanking up weeds.. some people genuinly enjoy that, so you go, have fun...

i'm just wondering if there is anyone else who acctually enjoys when the weather men tell us we are in a severe drought because we know that means the grass will grow less, maybe even die, and it'll mean less trouble for us.

way i figure.. if god wanted the grass to be short, he would not make it grow tall... who am i to go against the will of god?

My yard is full of sink holes where trees were cut down and the roots rotted, and I hate that, there are a lot of trees in my yard, and LOTS, and LOTS of trees in my neighbors yard giving me a horrible leaf problem in the fall.
However my front yard has some kind of grass that does not need to be mowed more than about 4 or 5 times a summer, and I love that part, but the back yard is weeds and needs mowing every few days, and I hate that.
I have always tried to enjoy yard work, but just cannot get into it. I plant flowers once a year and let them die because frankly, I enjoy watching television too much to bother watering them.
When I was a youngster growing up in California, my grandparents had their lawns removed and replaced with little green rocks. Even better, the rocks were glued or cemented in place. I've often thought of having that done but then I would be deprived of watching the nice guy who takes care of my lawn work without a shirt Smiler
cool.. i feel much better now. it's like all my life i've been surrounded by lawn-and-garden addicts. i know a guy who spent many hundereds on an in ground sprinkler system, spend more on chemicals and tools, spends hours every weekend outside mulching and spredding and digging and pulling and airating and all that crap... and his yard looks like crap. huge dirt patches because of the trees lumps and knots because of hte roots, and what little bit of grass is there is weak and scraggy.
my yard gets cut when i have no choice, out of fear of a visit form the city whining about it, and not one day before and i spend not one penny on chemicals or tools or etc etc... and my yard is rich and deep green and lush and grows like mad.

he cusses me whenever he thnks about it.

but anyway.. it's nice to find out i'm not the only one who'd rather have astroturf than fescue.

for the record, the trees in his yard look wonderful, with all that regular watering Smiler they are filling out amazingly.. and blocking the sun from an even larger area of the grass lol
In the late 60's an uncle in Clarksville had an argument with the neighbors about his yard not being cut and was taken to court. He was a truck driver, but also ordained as a minister, and his defense was that the grass growing was an act of God and he wasn't going to go against it. He won, in a way. He didn't have to cut his grass, but he did allow the neighbors to take turns keeping it cut.

Make a circle using large rocks. Fill it in with small stones. Put a potted plant in the middle. You can bring the plant indoors during the winter. Smiler
