Or, How the Fundamentalist Mind Works
Some time ago, Bill Grey offered to tutor me in the Bible and all things (Fundamentalist) Christian. Over the last year or so, Bill the Demented, Hypocritical Liar (aka as Johhny No Cred - his Valley Girl name), has been actively avoiding answers to my questions, mainly because they show that he is in fact a demented, hypocritical liar, who prefers to use the Bible as a weapon against everyone who doesn't fall in lockstep with his failed theology.
But even when Johhny No Cred is dancing and dodging, and attempting to avoid owning up to his heresy, he let's the real Bill shine through every once-in-awhile. It is very educational.
So far, through my conversations with Bill, we have established the following tenets of his fundamentalist belief system:
1. Once save, always saved.
2. The Bible is to be taken literally except for obvious uses of metaphors, simile and symbolism.
3. Everything in the New Testament, including all of Paul's writing, is God's word to us, straight from God, and God doesn't change his mind.
4. If someone willfully disobeys the Bible, then they were never Christians, and still aren't.
5. God and Jesus are omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent and continue to work here on earth and in heaven.
6. Many of Jesus' pronouncements in the Bible are either wrong or should be ignored..
7. Willful, continuing, disobedience of Jesus' teachings, and Paul's writing, are okay if you believe the local preacher has given you a pass.
8. In order to be a Christian, one must be possessed by a ghost.
9. Catholics, Mormons, Christian Scientists, Universal Unitarians, anyone who reads The Urantia Book, and all Liberal Christians (that is every denomination except some Baptist ones) are really just atheists.
10. Either Dr. Seuss wrote the Bible, or the earth is flat, or the Bible isn't to be taken literally - the final verdict is out on this one, but it is one of the three - still waiting for Bill to get back on this one.
The confusion that must exist in the fundamentalists' minds can only be explained by mental illness or fraudulent misbehavior or both.
Instead of embracing the basic messages found in the Bible on how to be real Christians, how to follow in Christ's footsteps, the fundamentalists embrace a theology of Jesus Loves Me, But Hates Your Guts. They exercise this theology by worshiping the Bible as a god, and using it as a weapon against those they hate, which is pretty much everyone. Instead of following the example of Christ, they try to inflict their failed theology on others. Fundamentalists pervert the concept of "Witnessing" by reinventing "The Great Commission", and ignoring the examples of Jesus and the writings of Paul. Instead of using the Bible as their own guide to Christianity and Christian behavior, they wield it as a tool with which to judge, influence, control, and condemn others.
Fundamentalism is a cult consisting of the ignorant, who are brainwashed by the hucksters, con men, and frauds who use the Bible for their own nefarious purposes - purposes which have absolutely nothing to do with Christianity or Jesus' teachings.
They are no different than Jihad suicide bombers, except the bomb is wrapped around their immortal souls.
