As I turned into my drive tonight, I thought of the scenes on the news about the people in Denver digging their way out of the snow, if someone in the City of Florence doesn't do something soon I am going to be buried in leaves! I read the articles with all the excuses and I have one word: BULL! (That was pretty nice for me) I have raked my leaves 3 times, there has not been 1 pickup on my street, all my neighbors are saying the same thing and to top it all off; I live on a hill on a corner lot and there are so many leaves that have gone down the side street until the heavy rains we had last week clogged the drainage pipes and actually made a pond in the middle of the street. I have email Scott, he responded (of course) but the city is taking it's cues from Do-Nothing Irons! If you have the same problem as I; may I suggest something? Send your councilman not just one, but as many as you have time or patience (I like to make a webpage, then send it over and over again; especially to Irons) that the street department in Florence, ISN'T DOING THEIR JOB. Three LOUD GROWLS, THE DOG.

Always had to take care of them myself.. never had that luxury... quess that LEAVES time for the more important things. As for the street department not doing their job, I think that most of those hard working folks would disagree with you. As with most departments in the city of FLorence, they are disrespected no matter what they do...its a SHAME...
SHAME ON YOU!

I MEAN,AS LONG AS I STAY WITH THE FIRE...........
THE DOG BARKS, don't like being called "dummy" (Call me stupid if you want to, that don't bother me, always did like being silly stupid LOL) I tried about 3 years ago when I lived in the "historical" district, had the Florence Fire Dept on me so soon you would have thought I was a dope dealer. It is against the law, as a law abiding citizen I am trying to do what is within bounds. So I rake the to the curb and now I can't get to my house. THE DOG!

Hey Dog....I really meant no disrespect...I was thinking of Fred Sanford when I said that. That doesn't mean I changed my mind on your issue about leaves being "petty".If I weren't a night shift worker,I would probably be a little more reasonable & bag the leaves so they could pick them up,but, after 36 yrs.in Muscle Shoals, they don't cut me any slack,so,I do what I have time to do.Know what I mean? CHILL,stupid...LOL!!!

David, although it is geat that they picked up YOUR leaves, you can see here on this post where that is NOT happening everywhere... so I guess that leaves people the option of DISSING them, eh?
I would almost bet a shot of Jack Daniels that David L either lives near or on a street where Bobby Irons (and by the way drive down Jackson Rd., not a leaf in site) or one of the councilpersons. I'll tell you how bad it is, I noticed on my way to work this morning that they are piled up all over WOOD AVE, not down by 7 points where the poor people live, up by the Library where the elite are. I bet they won't be there long! THE DOG GROWLS

How are your leaves doing, DOG???? hehe
What was that old country song that had the line: How high's the water son? and another singer said THREE FEET HIGH AND RISING! Well thanks to the rain and wind, most of them have actually blown back onto my front yard but as of yet the good folks at Florence Street Dept. ain't came by yet. I am gonna stick my pink flamingos in the pile by the driveway for a little class and decoration! THE DOG

PBA, that was discussed earlier in the thread, that wasn't an option for them.... and they DID rake them and bag them, just could get no one to pick them up.
