I also think a real time chat would be neat, as well.

I love the avatar Fighting Illini Big Grin

Hey,I'm not trying to be smart, but you are still talking about the forum in the local news forum.

Folks, Since 2002, when the effects of a flesh eating bacteria laid me low, I have been a virtual shut in. Some rather personal and private vital organs, like my intestines and liver, were partially destroyed. I am alive because I get a physical every other year. Every year now, it is a little more important.

I generally smell bad, and I am lousy company. I cannot abide my own stupid mistakes, do you think I would put up with them from any one else?

These types of forum are the best way to keep my mind active, and they also keep my blood pressure above cadaver level.

All of them, from Alabama to Wyoming, have the same problem, not enough catagories to provide a seperate thread for evey possible area of contention, and too few participants to justify more catagories.

I agree with the premise presented by Fighting Illini Small Talker. The best of theese are the ones done by large papers that seperate forums according to the sections of the newpaper. National, International, Local, Sports, Weather, Features, Editorials, and Letters to the Editor. Generally this is done by permitting response to individual stories, and they do not put all the comments into a single space the way Tines Daily does.

For those of you who do wish to find comments in this forum from local news stories, start by going to the online version of the Newspaper. Every story published on the website is followed by a comment box, and if you respond to that box, it generates a topic in THIS space. If the topic is already open, you will find it and if it is not, you will open it.
I THOUGHT this was a LOCAL newsgroup! I mean there are literally thousands of newsgroups out there and when I joined this one I was looking for local issues. It is the product of the "local" newspaper. I don't know what happened, either there aren't that many "locals" on the board or those that are do not care about what is going on locally. Maybe that is what the TD had in mind all along! Needless to say: I have gotten to the point of disgust at the lack of interest in local issues. If I want to discuss the topics I am seeing here lately (and when it started it was small in number, local posters and local issues were discussed) I will go to al.com. Not that I would actually GO to al.com, just turn on CNN. THE DOG
