Of course you're right, Best.
There's gullible, superstitious people all over the world-But I can't see them from here.
Never in the years I've been alive have I seen so many churches packed into such a geographically small area as I've seen in the south. Never have I seen anywhere else the huge mountainside monoliths that I've seen in places like Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia.
Never have I seen so many churches packed into a single TOWN as I've seen just here in the Shoals.
I can leave my driveway and drive around the block and pass no less than six churches.
Never before have I seen HUUUUUUGE, palatial mega-churches (The recently built "Wal-Mart"-sized 'Bright Clouds' Church in New Milford, CT notwithstanding- but there's no other churches around it for about fifteen miles) anywhere else but in the south.
All that evidence around me tells me that my statement isn't too far from the truth.
In my former community, I had to really drive a ways and look hard to find a church. Any church.
You could give directions by the denomination of the church there were so few of them.
Here, when somebody says "turn left at the church", I gotta ask 'em to please pick a different landmark because there's a church on every corner.
Kinda like "Go down about three red lights...." And I'm counting........OK....That one's green........THAT one's green.......Uh-oh........THAT one's green, too...........S#!t......
Cracks me up.
I didn't turn this thread into a north-south thing. Buf did. That's not my intention- and I'm not picking on anybody except the hypocrite that suggests on his church's sign that everybody should be humble-except him.
I don't care if that Bimmer is the pastor's car or not either. I DO however find the situation worthy of much mirth and guffawing.
If what's in that pic isn't a case of "Do as I say-Not as I do", I dunno what is...
