I would think that there could be several reasons why parents might get upset that their child didn’t play. First of all these are pay to play sports. Second of all, if there were two games that day, then surely there were plenty of opportunities to play every child.
I agree with Confederate Pride. There should be a limit at sign up. In our experience with flag football, only five are allowed on the field. The maximum numbers of players for each team have been eight. There are two 20-minute quarters that allows plenty of time for each child to have game time. Same with baseball, there’s usually only a max of 12 players per team.
At this age, it’s all about them learning fundamentals of the sport in my opinion. I’ve never signed our boys up to play for something unless they’ve asked me first. Our oldest is in middle school and I’m glad he’s in the position to have to work and want before he can play.
