WARNING - SPOILER ALERT - STOP UNLESS YOU WANT TO KNOW THE ENDING!

We went to see Marley & Me this past weekend expecting to see a funny fun movie. While it was very funny in a lot of scenes I hated the ending. A lot of folks carried their kids to see it probably expecting ther same thing but, in case you don't know about half way through the movie you realize Marley will die at the end of the movie and your gonna have to sit through it and cry. On a brighter note though, it was funny at the end to hear the little girl sitting with her mom behind us keep asking her mom "What's wrong mom? Don't cry, it'll be OK, What's wrong? Why are you crying?"

It was a very good movie though and if your a "dog person" you'll love it.
An optimist sees the glass as half full while a pessimist see the glass as half empty.... Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi simply looks upon your glass as being too big.

My wife and I took my two neices and my nephew. (8,8 & 12) and they all were sad but like most kids, were fine 30 minutes later. It's a great movie and very funny, and I don't suppose it will be overly traumatic to any child.

I highly reccomend it. Of course, I am an avid dog lover.
I agree...about smothering children. They have to learn about death. I think it is good to go to a movie TOGETHER as a FAMILY which is not done a lot now like we use to do when I was a child and share this experience and then come out and discuss it with your child. You could even prepare them before you go to the movie by reading the book and discussing death of pets without spoiling the movie I would think. This is a great teaching/togetherness time. When else are they going to learn about the death of a pet when it happens to their own? It is too late then...It's a shock...it may happen as they are leaving for school and you have to shove them on the bus and the teacher has to deal with their tears all day. Believe me I have dealt with this with 2nd graders (more than one in my 18 years of teaching).
beautifulme......It's a good movie with a very sad ending, lots of funny parts and Marley is a hoot. As far as Ole Yeller, there are some similarities I guess, they are both about a yellow dog, one heroic and one a clutzy mut that both die at the end....as far as Bambi, my hubby always yells "good shot" when Bambi's mom gets it.
