Marley & Me....spoiler (don't read unless you want to know the ending)

My wife and I took my two neices and my nephew. (8,8 & 12) and they all were sad but like most kids, were fine 30 minutes later. It's a great movie and very funny, and I don't suppose it will be overly traumatic to any child.

I highly reccomend it. Of course, I am an avid dog lover.

It was a okay movie but I'd have to agree with honee, they marketed it as a comedy and it wasn't.

I sat there worrying that my daughter didn't have a heart because she wasn't crying. She caved at the end.

I'm sorry, but it was DEFINITELY a comedy. Not all comedies end with happy go lucky rainbows and carnivals.

I know it was a comedy, I just thought it'd have a happy ending instead of having to watch them bury their pooch in the front yard. And I was just wondering if all those folks who brought their kids to see it would have if they knew the ending. It will make you go home and hug your dog though.

What little comedy that was there was on the previews so if you want to save yourself $8.00.....

I laughed through the whole movie, except the parts that were sad. Most of it reminded me of my dogs I have had and have now. I thought it was hilarious. I will definitely buy the dvd.

Old Yeller died and it was still a kids appropriate movie. Same for Bambi losing his mother. You can protect children, but not smother them in cotton.

I agree...about smothering children. They have to learn about death. I think it is good to go to a movie TOGETHER as a FAMILY which is not done a lot now like we use to do when I was a child and share this experience and then come out and discuss it with your child. You could even prepare them before you go to the movie by reading the book and discussing death of pets without spoiling the movie I would think. This is a great teaching/togetherness time. When else are they going to learn about the death of a pet when it happens to their own? It is too late then...It's a shock...it may happen as they are leaving for school and you have to shove them on the bus and the teacher has to deal with their tears all day. Believe me I have dealt with this with 2nd graders (more than one in my 18 years of teaching).

Who cares about this kids, I was expecting a comedy.

So, I assume that everyone agrees that it is an appropriate movie to take an 8 year old little girl to see that loves all animals. She even loves her mom!

beautifulme......It's a good movie with a very sad ending, lots of funny parts and Marley is a hoot. As far as Ole Yeller, there are some similarities I guess,they are both about a yellow dog, one heroic and one a clutzy mut that both die at the end....as far as Bambi, my hubby always yells "good shot" when Bambi's mom gets it.

As the character in Friends said, I didn't cry when they stopped drawing Bambi's mother."

Bambi didn't get me but The Fox and The Hound sure did. I was an adult blubbering like an idiot in a theater full of little kids.
