About 3 months ago I walk out side and find a VERY pregnant dog sitting on my porch. I didn't recognize her as any dog I had seen in the neighborhood and she was very friendly. I went back in told my husband and he went out to see her. Well right in front of his eyes she laid down and had her first puppy! It was one of those nights that it was going to be in the teens so we gathered her and her newborn up and put her in one of our basement bedrooms with some bedding. We were up all night as she proceeded to have 8 puppies! I ask everyone around our neighborhood if they knew her or where she belonged and no one did. I ran an ad in the paper...nothing. I posted her picture in a few local stores and still nothing. I have found homes for 3 puppies so far but its getting harder and I have ran out of good Samaritan friends Smiler We are planning a move in the next couple of weeks and I have to do something fast. Anyone interested in saving a homeless puppy? I have someone to take the mama dog in a week. They all look like they came from the same daddy except one that I have picture here alone...i don't know what he is...we call him old man.

Life is short, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that made you SMILE!

the animal shelter here in florence is getting very full so i wouldnt suggest it at the moment but usually they dont put down animal unless they need the room if you had taken them in when they where 6 weeks old they would all have homes by now, i hope you can find some people to take them but i am busy fostering a mom and pups already, next time take them to the shelter while they are still cute. the florence shelter is a great place for being soooo underfuned they can always use more volenteers. and puppiues brought to them have a good chance of being adopted out, plus they have the conections for fostering and other rescuse and shelters, dont listen to anybody who says otherwise--- and if you have a moment, go help out

Awww, Beth, they are so cute! Are any of the puppies girls? (I don't think we can have another dog, since we have three rescues already, but I'll ask Himself anyway.)

thomaswayne0907, huskies have an undercoat that protects them in cold climates but makes them absolutely miserable in Alabama summers. That could be why PAWS declined your request...it doesn't sound reasonable that they'd require that all their adoptees be allowed to stay indoors.

I didn't take them to the animal shelter here in Florence when they were younger because I was told I could bring them to The Arc in Huntsville which is a no kill shelter. However they got full and told me I couldn't bring them. I have contacted A New Leash On Life and TLC but still no room at the inn. Personally I think they are still cute. I have never taken a dog to any shelter where they kill them nor will I ever.

well the guy didn't tell me that, but that does make sense i guess. though i've seen the notice a trend of more and more people having large dogs inside, which is crazy to me. i've been searching for another dog but i'm after a lab or a husky.

Yes the black one and the one with black on both sides of its face are girls. The other three (white one, old man, and black on one side of face) are boys.

I once had a half German Shephard/half Norwegien Elkhound we kept outside, she did find. Well, she WAS more of an outdoor/inside dog. She stayed outside most of the time, but we would let her in the house too. She was HUGE!
I see people sitting outside on the weekends at Petco and Pet Depot trying to sell or give away dogs all the time. If you had a saturday to spare you could try that.

My husband, the Hard a**, found a pup outside his store this morning. It was in the Muscle Shoals Walmart Shopping Center. She was almost hit several times and then she came back to his store door and trying scratching to get in. So he took her down to PetDepot and bought her food, a collar and a leash. They called him a "softee" for taking her. lol He tied her up in the back of his truck until I could get her. She is very sweet and my kids (ages 3 and 4) are loving her, but I don't know that she can stay. So if anyone is missing a dog please let me know

Can I sit outside of Petco or Pet Depot with them? I was told by someone that they would not let you do that (because I did have that idea myself) They told me only the shelters could do that.

I would do it everyday till I found them homes if I can sit out there with them.

I saw a lady outside this past weekend at the Muscle Shoals Pet depot. She had the mom and dad dogs and their pups. I don't think she was with the animal shelter or PAWS. You should call and ask a manager.

Beth, I guess we can't take a puppy. Frowner (I looked at your pictures and forgot that we're almost in the poorhouse now from the three we already have.) Crossing my fingers and wishing you good luck in finding homes for the cuties.
Thanks everyone for your responses and nice words. Spread the news please that I have these little ones to give away to a good loving home. I really am getting to the point where I will try anything just about it to find them homes. I can't take them to a shelter that is not a no kill shelter, I would worry myself insane about them.
I know I'll end up in trouble, but it won't be the first time, if you still have any boy dogs, let me know. I'll wait for you to PM me - that way I will know it is meant to be.

I can have one more dog - I have 2 now - they stay outside and I was going to take the dog teyates found the other day and someone else wanted it and that was great. So - I still have a "spot" open for a MALE.

Let me know Beth!!

We are very good to our animals out here - I promise!!!
the "old man" is here!!!!! he is sooooo cute!!!! my step daughter is head over heels in love - we are going to the vet in the morning. he tried to jump out of the car on the way home - he was so excited!!!!

i have made a baaaaaaaaaaad mistake - he is on the floor in front of the tv with my SD right now taking a nap........... oops - maybe it won't hurt for just one night since the real "old man" is gone.......... sh sh sh Cool

we love him!! he is precious!!!
