Claim, correction
Mr. McCain said at a news conference in Amman that he continued to be concerned about Iranians “taking Al Qaeda into Iran, training them and sending them back.” Asked about that statement, Mr. McCain said: “Well, it’s common knowledge and has been reported in the media that Al Qaeda is going back into Iran and receiving training and are coming back into Iraq from Iran. That’s well known. And it’s unfortunate.”

It was not until he got a quiet word of correction in his ear from Senator Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut, who was traveling with Mr. McCain as part of a Congressional delegation on a nearly weeklong trip, that Mr. McCain corrected himself.

“I’m sorry,” Mr. McCain said, “the Iranians are training extremists, not Al Qaeda.” [End quote.]

Common knowledge is not always common.

It seems old Johnny Boy got his mix a little talked up when speaking about the Iranians training Al Qaeda fighters in Iran and then sending them into Iraq.

Uh-buh-buh-what he meant to say is "insurgents", NOT Al Qaeda, since there aren't too many Sunni Al Qaeda in Shia Iran. A minor clarification was in order after this little faux pas..... For a man who aspires to lead our country based on his comprehensive knowledge of the enemy we face, this just shows his lack of ANY understanding of our so-called enemy.

Now, c'mon fellas... do you not see how it might be problematical for a candidate whose strongest selling point is his "expertise" at foreign policy making a blunder like that?

The dude wants Endless War, and has stated before that he has no qualms about war with Iran. And here he is, publicly alleging ties between Iran and Al-Q. Sounds to me like he's following in the footsteps of GWB, who did the same thing a few years back. And now we can't seem to get OUT of the Iraq mess. If that doesn't raise a warning flag, about the direction McCain wants us to go in, then you're just not paying attention.

And before anyone bothers, I'm not keen on any of the candidates the Political Machines have vomited upon us. I vote based on issues, not on the parenthetical letter that follows the candidate's name on the ballot. I don't agree with any of the candidates on enough of the issues to be all that enthusiastic about any of them, but I surely don't want someone who would "support our troops" by starting yet another war.
John McCain Voted for use of military force in Iraq. Supported Bush veto of war spending bill that would have withdrawn most U.S. troops by March 2008. Was an early proponent of sending additional American troops to Iraq.

McCain Doesn't Know Shia From Shinola

On his "Gee, don't I look like a Commander-in-Chief" tour in Iraq, presumptive GOP nominee Sen. John McCain said something that made him look anything but. He showed that he's either a liar, or woefully misinformed, or getting senile. He warned to reporters that Iran is sponsoring al Qaeda terrorists in their fight against the U.S. When pressed, the crusty old Repug added that it was "common knowledge and has been reported in the media that al-Qaeda is going back into Iran and receiving training and are coming back into Iraq from Iran, that's well known. And it's unfortunate." As anyone with an ounce of Middle-east/Arab history knows, Iran is a Shiite country and al Qaeda is Sunni. And the two hate each other. So, his trusty war-mongering sidekick Sen. Joe Lieberman, at his side, leaned in, whispered this sweet nothing into his ear, and McCain said whoops...I made a boo-boo. "I'm sorry...the Iranians are training extremists, not al Qaeda," he said.

So what's the real shocker here, that McCain was trying to lie to Americans about who we're really fighting over there? Duh! He, Lieberman and Bush have been doing that for years. That McCain was trying to distort the truth should come as a surprise to no one. His entire campaign is built on the Iraq war and his support of the surge. And his main strategy is fear; keeping Americans afraid so that support for this debacle continues. The other day he said "if we pull out the troops, al Qaeda wins." The Repug neocons have been morphing Iraq and Iran into al Qaeda since the 9-11 attacks.

But what this should demonstrate to voters is that McCain's integrity is lacking. That he's a liar. or, if we giove him the benefit of the doubt and he's not intentionally deceiving Americans, then his understanding of of one of the most complexes ethnic struggles in history, in a violent part of the world, renders him unprepared to be president.
