____

Those who mis-identified that location need to get out a detailed street map of Washington D.C. showing major landmarks.  Upon inspection, those dimbulbs will find that that  "old white house"  is located on PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE, several blocks south of the Connecticut Avenue location to which they ignorantly refer.

Thank You for that tutorial...and this adds WHAT to the topic?

Take your Alz meds please!

Yes, 1600 to be exact. Typo I should have caught.  At least we agree that the white African-American is the suspect involved with civil rights violations.

teyates,

A question to you as to physician's initial training.  At present, doctors must take four years of pre-med and four years of medical school. Then, a two year residency and more training for their specialty.  Not to mention, the annual training necessary to just keep up.

In my memory, pre-med used to be just two years  In the UK, students go directly from high school to a 5 year medical school.  British doctors have a good professional reputation.

Is the US training, at the beginning too long?  Seems shortening the front end would lessen the initial expense and allow doctors to enter practice sooner.

In most cases it is four years of premed and then four years of medical school. This is followed by an internship which lasts one year, and then a residency which is different according to your speciality.  Primary care (family practice is an additional two years.  Some schools have utilized a new system called 3+3, which is three yeras of medical school and then three years of residency without the internship.  An internship is really just a year of residency however it is typically a rotating year where you do all kinds of different things.  For a specialist like a surgeon or cardiologist, most reisdencies are five years, so it is 4+ (college) + 4 (medical school)+ 1(internship) + 4 (residency) for a total of 13 or more yeras.  This causes a huge financial burden unless you were already rich to begin with, with some medical school graduates finsihing with up to $350K of debt before even starting to open a practice.\I have looked at the UK system, and the difference I have seen is the undergraduate system. If you have the grades you can forego those early college years and enter right into the NHS and work your way up.  Takes about as long ebcause of the amount o training you have to do.

The best thing about their system is that you don't come out owing a huge amount of money therefore you can afford to become the government employee.  There are pros and cons in both systems.
