We’ve written more than once about the hypocrisy of diet fascists who take it personally when we refuse to comply or pretend their lockdown orders are anything other than a power grab.

You can read about nonsensical, anti–science rules for Los Angeles golfers here.

Or the economic devastation wrought by our preening Gov. Gavin Newsom and his flailing attempts to make a virus obey orders here.

And the rules-are-for-little-people hauteur displayed by Gavin and his cronies here.

We are columnists and Newsom can’t take away our keyboard, but it takes courage for small business owners to speak out against our dime store dictator’s unconstitutional virus commands.

The price they pay can be real.

Take Vicki Kirk the owner of Pomp Salon in Stockton, California.

She defied Newsom’s unconstitutional lockdown orders, remaining open.

Just before Christmas a detachment of state troopers raided Pomp Salon and ordered it to close. Kirk told ABC news, "About five armed state police officers burst into our salon shouting drop everything you’re doing. Stop, you’re being shut down."

Surprisingly the photo of the raid in the Gateway Pundit shows the troopers in standard duty wear. If we had been assigned to interrupt a herd of women in the middle of a hair–styling session, in the interests of our own safety, we would have demanded SWAT gear.

The raid was conducted on the orders of the California Department of Consumer Affairs, a bureau one would not normally associate with raids and gun–toting officers.

Kirk described the over-armed and overbearing intrusion to Fox news, "They burst into our salon and they treated it like a drug raid."

The Board of Barbering and Cosmetology — another covey of paper-pushers eager to throw their weight around — issued an anodyne statement that didn’t convey any of the sudden anxiety associated with a full-fledged law enforcement raid, "The Board strongly encourages licensees, as well as the public, to comply with the applicable Regional Stay-at-Home orders to slow the spread of COVID-19."

Of course, the raid wasn’t based on science. It was based on animosity because Kirk had been vocal about the business and soul–killing California lockdowns.

A spokesman for small business salons explained, "If there were any evidence that we should close, we would close, absolutely. There is virtually zero evidence to support the closure of our industry."

Kirk concurs, "I just want to earn a living and we all want to do it safely. We have strict safety protocols here, and we will continue to do so."

We’re with Kirk. Even before the "Wuflu" arrived, the few times we entered a salon it was impossible to avoid the fumes from powerful chemicals working their magic on customer’s hair. We doubt any germ could survive prolonged exposure to those fumes.

The good news is the District Attorney’s office in San Joaquin County has announced it will not charge or prosecute Kirk.

The state will have to find somewhere else to hold its show trial.

We hope Kirk’s example will inspire other small business owners to band together and open up simultaneously.

There is safety in numbers.

The "Flustapo" can’t arrest us all.
