i just don't understand the reasoning behind using a "screen name" made popular by someone else.

can you give some insight into that?

do you just wanna be "DeepFat"?

do you want others to think you're DF?

do you secretly wanna be his love slave?

do you just lust after DF on a carnal level?

do you aspire to be the intellectual giant we've come to know as DF?

it just doesn't make sense to me. what's wrong with the two or three other names you have? can you not remember your passwords?  help us all understand...

Blue, theres no shame in eating possum. Ppl from east Lauderdale do it all the time. Course hound dogs are more particular than many of 'em.

Tru,

I don’t see the info about whatever you are talking about.

I’m quite sure the house proper nor any of it’s parts have been stolen; anything else is of no consequence to me as I have stated before. The craftsmanship speaks louder than any history ever will to me.

Others are keepers of history as to the owners of the house and to whom they were kin. I am a carpenter and scientist with no rich ancestors. If you are concerned about folks who lived in the house when it was built ask someone else I really don’t give a damm about them. They more than likely took advantage of those whose craftsmanship  produced the wonderful house. QED

I'm curious Tru, why is a fuss of interest?

I'd think it would be of interest to you if you care about the house. I have messages from the director asking me to join in helping with the house. one thing they wanted to preserve the house and get money was a museum on the first floor. If all the old papers are stolen, no museum, no money, the house is sold and torn down. If the woman they say stole the papers did, they will prosecute her and its just more bad publicity for the old home. Would you pay to visit a home when you knew your money was spent on items that would wind up in a thief's living room or on ebay?

Well there you go tru. The papers are your problem then not mine. Of the numerous historical projects I’ve worked on papers have never been my concern.

I would rather see the papers that you are talking about archived in the State Archives or Collier Library but the sad news I have heard is that neither place is much of an option due to funds. Now that’s pitiful that the State Archives in Montgomery is unable to care for them.

I would suggest that there are three main objectives.

1. Preserve buildings

2. Restore the gardens

3. Archive any documents associated with Sweetwater.

The cemetary is a different animal and I know nothing about restoring it.

As long as Ms. Smithson will allow my concern is preserving the building.

There has already been visits to the site by those who know plants and who will systematically identify them.

There is one document of interest to me and that is the original contract to build the house along with a bill of materials. The poor sucker that built the house quoted less than 70 bucks for carpentry labor according to the document I saw. Wow!!

The volunteers are doing a wonderful job and the Director is working her fingers to the bone,
