Many voters don't know who they are voting for

Most of us know and realize that a great number, maybe a majority, vote according to the party line or which party a candidate is running under.  In the case of the article, highlighted above, it's said that many don't even know who the candidate is, their name, and surely not what they stand for or what positions they take.  Most likely many don't really know what the party they are voting for actually stands for or what positions the party stands for and backs.

1 in 3 can pass a citizenship test

I think it would scare many of us to know just how little people know about our Nation's history or about our form of Government.  I wonder just how many can name their Representative in the House or their Senators.  Many, I doubt, could even name their representatives, State, and Federal representatives.  You have politicians that go crazy over desires to have people identify themselves before they can vote you can imagine what the reactions would be if it was insisted that there be some basic citizenship test or prove some basic Civics knowledge in order to vote.  Some would argue that such basic knowledge should be required in order to choose representatives or a President.  I'm not advocating such myself but I do think it's sad that so many people can get out of school with knowing so little about our own Country or Government.
