Have you ever tried Mottzi's on Court Street?
They make their pizzas homemade.......Me and my husband love their pizza and wings. The food is great but he needs to work on his waiting staff...give them a try

Chicago Cafe on Mobile Plaza

Hey, I forgot to come back here & tell y'all that I tried that pizza at Chicago Cafe that CP mentioned. Someone recommended it on another thread.

It's not as good as the pizza in Chicago, but then that would have been a tall order really. BUT, it was delicious & I really like the owner. My husband and I had a great time swapping stories with him. The one I had was a thin crust, deep dish with everything.

My husband ate there every other day when he first got here. I don't remember him complaining about pricing, but then he had it straight like the owner recommended and not so southern style. Got to pay attention to pricing next time I'm in there.

The food is a great and I love that it isn't a corporate biz. It's getting harder and harder to find non-corporate places. Hard for them to stick around without community support.

I tried chicago cafe..wow pretty good stuff .I had a chicago hot dog for 2.50 tax included .it was great..... brought home a large (real) sausage pizza and wow I was impressed.. ( 10.00) so Im sold Thanks,also I guess he has alot of music on friday nights on the street/sidewalk anyway thanks ya'll

I don't think the pizza is pricey for what you are getting. Two people, well two of me anyway, could have split a small one & left full. Now, I haven't tried the hot dogs yet. I look forward to trying a brats next...like those better than hot dogs.

Joy, I'm quite sure that "new to town" enjoyed Chicago Cafe...read the recent posts by NTT and see if you come to the conclusion that I do. I mean come on, if you own (or have a strong personal interest in) a restaurant just come on here and say so. I'd appreciate that more than someone who "poses" as someone wanting to know about pizza, acts as if he/she recently tried Chicago Cafe, but has posts leading back to August in which he/she touted Chicago Cafe (even listing which bands were playing) on numerous threads.

I think "new to town" who formerly had other names is utilizing just another way to promote business!

Even so 2pennies, it's good food.

The coffee shop around the corner has an awesome chicken salad as well...

The food might indeed be good but if it speaks for itself then why create a post to promote one's business and hide behind the post???

I won't fault anyone for promoting their business, and will not assume that is what has been done. (You know what they say about assuming something right?) The food is good and IMO it does speak for itself, but if people are too stuck in their corporate minded spending/eating they will never go down the street to a family owned business and try it out...it doesn't have the golden arches out front.

Has anyone tried Fox's Pizza Den at the Muscle Shoals location? There were some coupons with last weeks Courier Journal and they've opened a MS location on Kelsey Ave (where is that?).

What do you mean, "YOU'VE" added yet another name? As the business owner? Nope, not a headache I would want. However, I am a strong advocate for supporting local business.

A topic of discussion in our house these days has been the crap you get at corporate establishments. A friend of ours owns a family grocery...the large corporate 'mart has been trying to put him out of business using what is IMO some pretty unethical practices. Hate to see it happen. Chains have their purpose, but I hate to see mom&pop shops sacrificed.

Wouldn't that be a thin crust pizza anywhere? As far as franchise stuff, I don't think you could find a better pizza (and I do so love pizza) anywhere than the franchise "Mellow Mushroom". I don't care if you're from Chicago or Timbuktu, that place is good!!!!

I'm sure the Tuscaloosa crowd on here can tell you how wonderful it is. I don't know if they have one in Huntsville yet, but Anniston (right off the interstate) and Birmingham have at least one.

I could eat it for breakfast!!!!!!

Well, if you are indeed right, 2, 2, (I like that! or maybe tutu), it backfired. Everybody on here likes a different pizza place! He got advertisement for ALL his competition. But I do notice he/she got their hot dog for $2.50 and they charged Joy over $3.00! I think they owe her a refund!!! Or maybe the new guy got a discount so he could advertise for them! That's a great idea!!! I think I'll try that with Publix!!!!Wait, I already bragged on them. Nevermind.

I do a call in for the Alfredo Chicken Pizza from Olive Garden alot. Very good "different" kind of pizza if you are tired of the same ole same ole.

Hmmm, so you think I violated Southern Hospitality...NEVER!? Your name was Northern Pride or something like that before. I know because when I read your other posts it sounded like someone promoting the Chicago Cafe. We Southerners don't make apologies for our actions and we are up front about who and what we are which is what I think you should be because you promote the hell out of this business. I simply think you should come clean and say that you have an interest in this business. I know that I, for one, would respect the Chicago Cafe and it's owner more...

Plus, after looking at the previous posts, you can clearly see that he stated earlier that he had been there. And he bashed almost every other restaurant in the area! After reading his/her other views, I don't think I'll be going back there.

Ian...when you typed (You know what they say about assuming something right?) I applied that the way I have always heard "the saying". Please enlighten me if it meant something else because I have never heard another "saying" of what assuming means. So...let me re-iterate that I have no problems with someone promoting their business but not as someone posing to have only recently tried the "WOW" food there. I simply find it tacky and even Southern Belles use that terminology. As for the 2 bits, I'm not sure how you got that confused with two pennies but the Jew in me will gladly trade you two pennies for two bits .

AWWW YEAH!! I love the 'shroom. I actually have 'shroom to go numbers programmed in my phone so when I get close to one, I can call ahead and have one ready to pick up and enjoy on my drive.

I just thought it was suspect when the originator of this thread was called "Chicago Cafe". Anything after that was just a blur.

this was brought to my attention 2 years ago or so .this was done by a worker- friend who thought they were helping(on my work computer) so what ever.. I make my pizza the way I make it if ya like it ok if not go and eat the kind you like .we all like somthing different.dont judge a person so fast .any one who knows me can tell you .that you can just ask me anything so give me a call also give these restaruant owners a break ther just trying to make a living some of you folks need a life.geeze how bored do you have to be to dig up old stuff.....keith

Just ignore them, I dont like chicago style dogs just because its not for me,but whenever i been in the service is SUPER FAST AND FRIENDLY

Actually, you have my favorite pizza, which I've bragged on in other threads, and I wouldn't quit ordering it over this, and I think you are very nice man, whom I wish well. I will even delete my post above, indeed, I was bored, guilty as charged! I didn't dig it up, though, it was just right there.

Other than my preference for Pizza Marina, that I have repeated on other threads or subjects I also like the pizza you get a Sam's Club. I don't think you have to be a member to get one either but I don't know about that for sure. I think though that they will just scan a default card, at the deli, and let anyone order the pizza. Their pizzas are also a great deal for the money and taste very good. I also like Fox's Pizza (Cloverdale store) and think all the above (Pizza Marina, Sam's & Fox's) are much better than any of the major players (Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, & Dominos).

I look forward to trying Chicago Cafe and I've not tried, but want to, Ricatoni's pizzas. I moved here from the Atlanta area where there were plenty of great pizza places to choose from so I love good Pizza and I'm glad there are at least some other choices here than the brand stores.

Godfather's Pizza used to be good, before I moved years ago, and I haven't tried them in their new location or since I've got back. I'm wondering what people think of them?

The same great pizza is still served by the same friendly owners. The new location just does not have the same charisma as the old, and I don't go there near as much as I used to.

Pizza Marina for the best, but best for the money, the meat lovers pizza at Sam's Club..about half the price of PM and loaded.

You should try the value menu at Fox's Pizza on Cloverdale Road. the pizza pockets, like a pepperoni calzone for like $3.00 or $3.50, I think. Really delicious. Make a lunch out of it.

One of my favorites is Ricatoni's "create your own" pizza. I add some of their dry herbs to my pizza - YUM!!
