Political Cartoons

Post them, If you have the rights to publish, the worst they will do is take the cartoon down.

I've posted cartoons I've cut and pasted from Internet sites without any issue, except for the size limit. For those, you can paste the link.

Absolutely the DUMBEST, most inane and least original political cartoon is Mallard Fillmore, which embarrasses the editorial pages of quite a few daily newspapers. In the TD it appears adjacent to the subtle, clever, and thoughtful Doonesbury, which just makes Mallard look ever more STUPID by comparison.

Doonesbury only appeals to the encroaching geriatric leftist portion on the boomers.

If that were true (which it is decidedly NOT), it would be only because of a general decline in sophistication by other sectors of the populace. Given the very widespread syndication of Doonesbury, there must be a lot of "geriatric leftists" out there or the newspapers would not be carrying it all over the country as they are. Doonesbury is currently syndicated in about 1,400 newspapers, compared with about 400-450 for Mallard.

By the way, Doonesbury's creator, Gary Trudeau, in 1975, became the first comic strip artist ever to be awarded a Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning; he was a finalist for a second Pulitzer in 1989.

You obviously do not subscribe to the dictionary definition of "duffer." Without some adjective, the word has nothing specific to do with age. And while it may be true that a larger percentage of older Americans read newspapers than do those in younger age groups, the former do not by any means constitute the majority of newspaper readers. Newspaper publishers know where their bread is buttered, and in those few cases where a paper has cut Doonesbury, the resulting predictably massive protests have resulted in a reversal of that decision. Doonesbury rules! Let me know when Mallard's creator is put in for a Pulitzer. I won't be holding my breath.

Second defintion of duffer, ". Northern and North Midland U.S. an old man, esp. a dull or indecisive one." sounds pretty much like what I meant.

Let me know when the NY Slime finally sends back Walter Duranty's pulitzer.

For all its right wingnut spin, Mallard has engaged in a substantial amount of recycling. I lost count of how many times that cartoon has cracked on Ted Kennedy's weight, alleged alcoholism, etc. It's a plain bore, and my saying that has nothing at all to do with its bent: I love *****ly City, for example.

And, Doonesbury has recycled so many themes, conservatives make bets of the next days cartoon. But, have no takers. We already know the answers.
