Did S&P downgrade us?

A warning shot or did you miss it?

A key credit agency issued an unprecedented warning to the United States government Monday, urging Washington to get a grip on its finances or risk losing the nation's sterling credit rating.

For the first time, Standard & Poor's lowered its long-term outlook for the federal government's fiscal health from "stable" to "negative," and warned of serious consequences if lawmakers fail to reach a deal to control the massive federal deficit.

So they didn't "down -rank" us? Why did you say they did?
I am just floored that you all aren't still clammering for Sister Sarah. Two years ago you were all convinced SARAH was the answer. She was the greatest thing ever. She could do no wrong. Two years ago Sarah was the most qualified canidate that ever walked the earth. NOW.....nothing...... Ya'll are so fickle. Poor Sarah, she's been left out in the rain. You guys crack me up.

A lot happens in two years. Sarah did have the most executive experience of the four running in 2008. Now after all the wondrous debt Obama created, it going to take more than Sarah to get us out.

Well....at least your honest. But it worries me that it took ya'll two years to finally realize this. Isn't this exactly what we were telling you two years ago? I guess, in a way, you all should be thankful Obama won. That may have been embarrassing.

And I think I should remind you that Ol" GW did leave us with 1/2 that debt , 2 wars, a callapsing economy, a bank bailout and all the problems we needed the other half to try to fix. Just sayin'. We may be moving slow with Obama, but at least we're pulling ourselves out of the gutter. Maybe if the Rebublicans in Congress worked with us instead of against us we'd be moving forward faster.

Um...have you seen the list of the GOP potentials? If that's your "cream of the crop" I doubt Obama has much to worry about. Its going to be another year where Democrats are driven to the polls BY the Republican alternative.

Keep blaming ole GW. In 2 years Obummer has ran more debt than Ole GW did in 8. Instead of 2 wars now we have 3. The economy is collapsing even further. We're still bailing out and printing more money. I see us still digging the hole instead of trying to get out of it. Obummers first 2 years the dems had control of both houses so you can't blame anything on the Republicans.

Why are Democrats going to the polls? "Yes we can" won't work this time.
True-Blue sez "...well at least we're pulling out of it."

Seriously, did you really say that? Are you delusional or totally unaware of what is currently happening? We are on the verge, literally, of losing the American dollar as the world standard of currency. We have opened yet another military front to contend with. We are in a stalemate in Afghanistan, the place Obama thought was the proper place to fight. Our debt is skyrocketing. Our legislators are so busy fighting one another and failing to compromise that nothing is being done.....yeah, I'd say we are doing absolutely fine..... Roll Eyes

50% is not a surprising number, since that would be you, dittohead, and tb multiple voting...but WAIT! Isn't that what Democrats do?

Ole GW left us half that debt? Bush went from 5T to 9T in 8 years. Obama has gone from 9T to 14.3T in 2.

You can try all you want to defend GW but he had 8 years to screw this country up. Personally, I didn't think we'd ever make it back. He left Obama with TWO COMPLETELY UNNECCESSARY WARS, a collapsing economy and a bank bail out. Its a shame that we have had to spend so much to get this county back up on its feet. And like it or not, WE ARE COMING BACK. Unemployment has been dropping, the stock market has stablized, business is coming back. A large portion of GWs 8 year mess has been fixed in 3 years. And he has done it despite Republican doing whatever they could to stop him. Its a shame Obama hasn't had any resources or time to pursue his agenda, instead of cleaning up Bushs. People know that the billionair Koch brothers started and fund the Tea Party. The Tea Party is a joke now. People have woke up and know that the Tea Party is NOT on the avererage guys side of the working guy. Republicans heads got too big, and when they start talking about ending Medicare and privitizing Social Security, they went too far. People know that the Republicans are looking out for the rich and could care less about them. When they want to take everything away from the average working guy and NOTHING from the rich or corporations......its obvious to everyone now. They pulled they whole death panel lie during health reform, hen they turn around and pull this crap with Medicare and seniors? The Republican agenda to bust the unions is motivated in defunding the Democratic party, but in the process they've pissed off the country because the Republicans seem to have no problem with the huge corporate pernsions & bonus' coming out of taxpayer pockets. America is founded on the backs of the working class and we are not going to BOW TO THE WEALTHY. Let them eat cake.

We've changed that to: "Oh, hell no, God help us, no way"

quote:
From Obama, the Tax Cut Nobody Heard Of

Travis Dove for The New York Times

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — What if a president cut Americans’ income taxes by $116 billion and nobody noticed?
“Federal and state have both gone up,” said Bob Paratore, 59, from nearby Charlotte, echoing the comments of others.

After further prodding — including a reminder that a provision of the stimulus bill had cut taxes for 95 percent of working families by changing withholding rates — Mr. Paratore’s memory was jogged.

“You’re right, you’re right,” he said. “I’ll be honest with you: it was so subtle that personally, I didn’t notice it.”

Few people apparently did.

In a troubling sign for Democrats as they head into the midterm elections, their signature tax cut of the past two years, which decreased income taxes by up to $400 a year for individuals and $800 for married couples, has gone largely unnoticed.

There are plenty of explanations as to why many taxpayers did not feel richer when the cuts kicked in, giving typical families an extra $65 a month. Some people were making less money to begin with, as businesses cut back. Others saw their take-home pay shrink as the amounts deducted for health insurance rose.

So now it's Obama's fault that business cut back on hours? It's his fault that the insurance companies he's been trying to rein in are charging more?

Hey, businesses have always fluctuated with hours. Lots of hours in good times, fewer hours in bad. And insurance companies' premiums have risen yearly, not just for health insurance either. Homeowner's and auto insurance premiums usually rise every year too.
