It's about time. I hope the protests get larger, stronger, and more frequent. I hope she gets a little of the same treatment, in public, the left calls for against Republicans.

U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar faced hundreds of protesters Saturday outside a Southern California fundraising event for the local chapter of a major advocacy group representing Muslim-Americans.

“Burn the Quran!," “Ilhan Omar, go to hell!” and “Shame on you, terrorists!" were among some of the messages shouted outside a Woodland Hills hotel where the Minnesota Democrat spoke at a fundraiser for the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) of Greater Los Angeles, according to a report. The town is about 25 miles northwest of downtown L.A.

The protesters lined a sidewalk area, where they waved Israeli flags and denounced the freshman congresswoman over recent remarks that some have described as anti-Semitic, the Los Angeles Daily News reported. The atmosphere was a mix of dancing and music mixed with the vitriolic comments against Omar, the report said.

Omar, a 37-year-old immigrant from Somalia who came to the U.S. with her family in 1995, has faced a storm of criticism from pro-Israel politicians and groups after her February tweet that said “It’s all about the Benjamins baby,” in reference to the support that some U.S. lawmakers have offered to Israel.

FARRAKHAN TELLS 'SWEETHEART' REP. OMAR NOT TO APOLOGIZE FOR ISRAEL COMMENTS

The freshman Democrat drew scorn from Republicans and some in her own party. She later apologized and clarified her criticism of the Israeli government.

“Anti-Semitism is real and I am grateful for Jewish allies and colleagues who are educating me on the painful history of anti-Semitic tropes,” she wrote on Twitter.

“Being opposed to [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and the occupation is not the same as being anti-Semitic," she continued. "I am grateful to the many Jewish allies who have spoken out and said the same."

A handful of counter protesters also appeared outside the event to voice support for Omar.

The event at the fourth annual Valley Banquet, titled “Advancing Justice: Empowering Valley Muslims,” was sold out and closed to the public. The Los Angeles Police Department told City News Service that it had an unspecified number of officers working the event.

“We don’t disclose the numbers,” Officer Sal Ramirez told City News Service.

Omar's visit to Southern California is expected to continue Sunday, as she is scheduled to attend a private meet-and-greet in Irvine, according to a flyer for the event.

Her appearance was one of two political events in the region Saturday. In Los Angeles, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, a Democratic 2020 presidential candidate, visited a mosque to commemorate the victims of the March 15 mass shooting in New Zealand, the Los Angeles Times reported.

“Your background is different than mine,” Sanders told about 200 Muslims at the Islamic Center of Southern California. “What a joy it is to share that.”

Later in the day, he spoke to an estimated 12,000 people at a downtown Los Angeles rally.

“As president of the United States, I will not have kind words to say about authoritarian leaders around the world who espouse bigotry and hatred,” Sanders told the crowd. “Together we will make the United States the leader in the world in the fight for democracy and human rights.”

Just the fact that she has met in secret meetings or meetings that were closed with known terrorist sympathizing groups should mean she is removed from all sensitive committees that the democrats have put her on.  She won't be though because she is one of the New Democratic darlings of the new freshman class.  They won't even criticize her by mentioning her by name and removing her from the committees she is on yet they get all up in a tizzy when someone alludes to the Democrats as being more anti-Israel these days.

The people that want to change this Nation and destroy it are far more motivated, dedicated, and active than the people that want to save it and maintain it.   Failure to learn from our failures throughout history destines us to repeat those failures and possibly not have the victories over them next time.

I couldn't agree with you more, but you're still voting Republican.

You can thank the Democrats for that!  When it comes to what the Democrats have done compared to the Republicans (not promised but done) they have taken far more money out of my pocket than helped me.  I'm still frosted over Healthcare and the way they forced it through.  I'm also frosted that John Roberts negotiated a way to keep it legal by calling it a tax.  At least Democrats can be counted on to vote together and hold together, even if it's wrong, where Republicans sniff the wind and form a revolving firing squad then fire.  Democrats, though, could be learning a thing about the revolving firing squad what with this new batch of freshmen legislators.

Although you don't believe it I am Independent and will vote for the person and not the party.   Problem is that I'm also mostly Conservative, pro-Constitution, and it seems that puts me at odds with most if not all of the Democrats these days so I'm still waiting for a Democrat to give me reason to vote for them rather than against.  Even with being conservative though I believe having a vigorous opposition and having liberals as well as conservatives in Congress keeps everyone honest and helps rather than hurts our democracy because no one group has the patient on good ideas.  There is room for everyone's opinions because it teaches not to leave anyone out but these days, more and more, Democrats are trying to make it illegal to be white and declaring war on White American males.  Racism is wrong but ALL racism is wrong even that perpetrated by minorities against the majority (which by the way will soon be the Hispanics).

Republicans take away your rights, if you're a woman.

Republicans tax the middle class more while providing corporate welfare.

Republicans spend money like the Democrats wish they could spend money.

Republicans ignore the Constitution to farther the Republican agenda.

Republicans expand the Federal Government.

Every single thing you say the Democrats do, the Republicans have been doing, yet you blame Democrats. If the majority of Alabamians would give both Political Parties a fair chance, there wouldn't be a Republican left in Alabama.

If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than any minority man, he'll give you his money when you ask... .the Republican way.

Go read your own posts. You whine incessantly. Post fake news. Whine about it. Repeat. Your normal cycle. You're the biggest snowflake on the forums.

Show the lies or quit whining. You make this claim daily and have yet to provide one shred of proof. That would make you the one who whines and lies. Put up or shut up.
