this time of year, probably on their way back to Canada, don't you think? They are beautiful animals, and interesting. They mate for life.

The other day, here in LA, on the side of a busy freeway, I saw a gorgeous white heron feeding on the greenspace between lanes. It was so out of place, there only a few feet from speeding vehicles, that it really stuck in my mind.

I thought I was seeing things last month when I crossed Wheeler Dam. Whew, those WERE pelicans. I can cancel my optomitrist appointment.
