Interesting discussion! Food for thought buttercup, I think the shape our healthcare is in is primarily our (the patients) fault. Docs are afraid of us, we are overly eager to sue the same people helping us. If docs hold onto their scripts tighter we will blame and sue.

How dare you make me suffer with this minor back pain? You should have provided some pain management!

God forbid someone does off themselves, if the doc hadn't prescribed anti-depressants, the family will be hunting for the docs head.

I don't think the pharmaceutical industry has any bearing on a doctor diagnosing a condition. I do believe they have an influence on the doc prescribing med A or med B for a real diagnosis.

The reason for the spike of depression being reported is plain as day in your article, there was a way offered to manage the depression so of course more people will be seeking help for the condition they had no help for before. The article is slanted heavily.
It seems to me that the older i get the more people I know are on a narcotic drug to live. I personally have a near "phobia" of prescription medication or anything that i have never taken over the counter or otherwise. The magority of the people I know don't need the volume of the meds they are taking and admit to being chemically addicted to them or enjoy the extra pills for recreation. I'm primarily talking about Hydrocodones and anti depressants like Zanex Valium etc... I think Doctors would be more careful about these prescriptions if they were held accountable for the fees that I have watched at least 2 friends have to pay for rehab to get off these things that not are only prescribed indefinitely but without further diagnosis or treatment options. I understand that people need a Valium to cope with depression or something but I think these depression prescriptions should be limited to someone in the precise field of of mental illness. I mean would you go to a dentist and get medication for a hurt back?
I'm here and doing good. I feel good except I get more mad about things in the past day or 2. I think it's time for me to show when I'm pissed off instead of trying to keep everybody happy. I quit one of my jobs and told the peice of sh1t boss where he could go. I was working my life away now I just looking for some good times in life.
Can I put a little story behind this. One time the Angel of the LORD came to a small town of around 1,000 people, he told them that 25 of them were going to be taken away.

The next day 975 of them died, the man told the angel of the LORD, you said that you were only going to take 25, what happen the man asked, the angel of the LORD replied the others worried their selves to death, before I came back.

Story told to me by an old freind of mine down in Montgomery one time years ago.

Thanks and glad to know you are o.k. If you aren't joking about some of the things you are saying here, I would strongly advise you to contact your psychiatric doctor. You would probably fared better had you kept your job.

No, Tokyo is a member of the legal community and is still upset that its favorite candidate got skunked in the Circuit Judge race. If you believe her membership in the legal community, may I sell you the newly found addition to Stonehenge?

I promise to use the funds to send posers to a real college where they will learn both adequate grammar and debating techniques.
