The 4 Boneheaded Biases of Stupid Voters
(And we're all stupid voters.)

Almost all the “respectable” economic theories of politics begin by assuming that the typical citizen understands economics and votes accordingly—at least on average. By a “miracle of aggregation,” random errors are supposed to balance themselves out. But this works only if voters’ errors are random, not systematic.

Article takes the elitist view that voters are neither rationale, nor make intelligent choices, in the main or long run. Rather interesting considering the results of representative republics and their close relatives, the responsible governments of the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, vs. any governments based on the intellectual ideas of one or even a a group of men.

Author doesn't know Adam Smith's view of trade or deliberately misstates it -- basically a free trader, except for those items necessary for defense of the realm. Smith was not a mercantilist.

Author paints an argument for unlimited immigration, rather than controlled immigration. He ignores the harmful effects of the public support for such a large number of illegal aliens, vs. the contribution of their labor. He posits that those who believe in controlled immigration desire a Berlin type wall along the Rio Grande. Most would prefer a Gaza type fence to disallow mass illegal immigration and illicit drugs. Controlling immigration allows the government to make rational choices about the desired level of persons allowed to immigrate. Allowing mass immigration of unskilled labor forces down wages in the nation artificially and delays the mechanization of agricultural chores and other low skilled jobs. I give the writer a D+.

The economy was already tanking in jrs. second year of office. America was ready for change, and whether its for the good or bad we will see. I think both party's are to blame for the situation we are in. I thank their are members of both rebup and dem parties who are respectable and have our nations best interest at heart, but there are equally others who don't. It will be our responsibilty at election time to vote these people out of office . Whether it be obama, or members of congress, I'am an american first regardless of party affilation.

carl we are going to work for trickle down intelligence in your case. Wink

Well, good for you, blewdog,

That's the usual comeback of someone who can't think of a decent answer. When you think about it in a real case scenario, it makes perfect sense. Go ahead, admit it, you'll feel better.

I don't get into calling people names or believe in arguments. If you can argue in a civil manner, that's fine. I'm use to people like you and I just laugh you off. People on the right try to use distractions like yours to avoid the topic. So what ever cranks your little tractor, go for it. Have a nice day. Smiler
Knowblewdog-

I haven't called you a name, and I ask you to show me where I haven't argued in a civil manner. I list the totality of my comments to you on this thread; just highlight them please.

*Blue dog has no idea what he's talking about. This isn't being organized that way.

*Didn't you get the memo? Those supposed tax cuts have been "put on hold". But we all are getting tax increases, though.

*Failing badly, yes, but hasn't come close to stooping to the levels of this administration.

*Bama C and Blew dog-

Did you notice how "trickle down" works when we are in distressed economic times? Well, it also works that way (trickle down) in a good economy. Comes from the top, the producers, etc.

You never have the minimum and low wage workers leading the trend, whether it's on the upswing or downswing.

You're trying to use logic and rationality to explain something to a liberal who only responds to feelings. Their belief: If someone has more money than they do, they must have gotten it through lies, deceit, and cheating an honest working man. They need to be punished for their transgressions and the best way to do it is through taxing him into poverty.

Don't waste your time and effort.

I do beleive it was you and I maybe wrong, but you or someone said the reason for slick willys economic success was because of the repub majority in congress guiding him in the right direction.

That particular Republican congress, yes they did. They didn't cut spending, they reduced the rate of growth in spending which is all you really need to do. Of course, yomama just showed his idea of restraint in spending with a $300 trillion + budget which, to his credit, Parker Griffith voted AGANIST.

The economy in the 90's was NEVER as good as it looked. A huge part of the market success was phony because of the dot com sham and the clodton administration let companies like enron and worldcom run wild in order to pad the economic figures.
Gee Kperk, I glad you at least will give a little credit to a socialist demo. I think Parker Griffin will do good. But back to the other question, your way of thinking is it took a repo congress to make slick willies economic policy look good. Thats okay and I will accept that if thats your way of looking at things. If that is true and your way is right then I can only beleive it was the demo majority that made rotten reagans economy look so good. Remember it was 1994 when your man newt engineered the repub take over of congress.

It gets old saying this to you but, WRONG. We had a pretty good economy DESPITE the libs. We would've had a great economy if they had exploded the budget with runaway social spending. Since there was no line item veto, they attached all their social spending to any bill they knew Reagan would sign, such as national defense and tax reform. With the increased tax revenues from the tax cuts (I'll bet your not getting this), all we needed was to cut back on all the welfare related spending and the economy would have really flown. But we had your slimy defacrat heroes in there and blew that chance.
Since there are those (like me) who post on here regularly but have not met practically any of you in person, we should come up with some way of recognizing each other that day. Maybe a certain color cap or something. I would wear an official Henhouse Prowler wife-beater tank (get yours today!) but the cops might be there and I kind of need to lay low. You know, not attract attention... Wink

Ideas?

Hate to tell you this doggie but that's not an insult. Now rosie old-donnell? THAT'S an insult that you resemble quite well. Smiler
Is this the Newt-Beck-Hannity one or a real one? Is it BYOTF (bring your own tin foil) or not? What sort of tea, I like black tea, regular Orange Pekoe, myself, but will not turn down some with the bergomot or English breakfast tea, and I drink it tidy. Are there snacks? I would not have to actually touch anyone would I, I mean if someone got Beckish and broke down beside me in a grand mal crying jag? I don't have to actually dress like an Indian do I? I have no idea how the Indians of the Boston area dressed in the mid 18th century.
