This may sound stupid, but I've asked before and my question has never been answered in a way to satisfy me.

Do Atheist truly believe in a flying spaghetti monster? Where is this evidence? If you believe these photo's you speak of is evidence, surely you know that photo's can be doctored?

Sometimes I believe Atheist talk of this monster just for fun, then other times, some of you actually seem to be serious.

Semi, the FSM is a metaphor for unreasonable faith.  Now, don't tell anyone, because this is strictly confidential stuff discussed only at atheist covens and ACLU meetings, but the FSM is a joke.  It was made up during the Kitzmiller v Dover trial as a competing religion to the "Intelligent Design" that was found to be Creationism under another name, and rightly so.

This said, the FSM created god, and is the only True Religion.

Hm.  Let me get this straight.

I don't believe in a god who loves us enough to punish all of humankind for the innocent mistake of

Adam and Eve, who knew not wrong from right.  I don't believe in a god who killed practically every person and animal because he found his creation faulty.  I don't believe in a god who ordered the genocide and rape of entire nations because he arbitrarily gave the same real estate to several different  tribes.

I don't believe in a god who, rather than simply forgive us, sent a human sacrifice with dubious provenance to offer us redemption from the iffy Original Sin that he created in the first place.  I don't believe in a god who gleefully punishes in Hell most of humankind in eternity for finite, understandable "sins".  I don't believe in a god who is either incapable or unwilling to relieve human suffering.

And I'm the "perv".

From you, Winston, I take the term as a compliment.  You see, from the hateful, no harm can come to me.  I wear your hatred and ignorance as a badge of honor.  Your hatred causes me no harm whatever, because I cannot value your opinion.

may he bless you with his noodley appendages.

i been off doing other things for a day or three  (Civilization V, to be exact. i was busy taking over the world.) and am just now getting back to this...

Semi, what he said. there is also the IPU. the faith of the invisible pink unicorn. we know it's pink, because we have faith that it's pink, and it's obvious that it's invisible, because no one has seen it.
makes just as much sense as all the other 'faiths'.  ties right into bill believing the bible to be the word of god, because the bible says it's the word of god.

BTW.. there is a mod for Civ5 that lets you add different religions to the game for the civs to pick.. Pastafarian and IPU and the church of the SubGenius are available, along with jedi, sith, and several other fiction religions, like christianity and hindu and islam.

most of my friends are mostly just non-religious, they don't really want to be labeled one thing or another.
but i have like 1 or 2 atheist friends, several agnostic friends(5+) and 1 christian friend, and the rest just don't want to be labeled.

none of my friends really care too much about any religions really (besides the christian friend, who just knows about Christianity really.)

Hi Deep,

If you recall, several years ago when Al Williams was trying to sell his Urantia Book religion on the Religion Forum -- he created an alter-ego he named Malibu Girl so that he would have someone with whom he could dialogue and who would agree with him.

Somehow, I get the feeling that Pooch is your Malibu Girl.  Or, possibly Fish reincarnated?   Hmmm?

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Hmmm........shall we name all your alter-ego's? I know there are at least two, possibly four.

What's this obsession you have for Fish? You're always mentioning him in most of your post.

Sounds like you and your friends are mature enough to be friends without harassing each other over religion.  Congrats.

I guess it's been awhile since BeeG went "walking down by the river", eh?

RP, Semi,
Bill is not well.  I suggest you ignore him.  It's beneath y'all to score humor points at the expense of his disability.

I'm serious.

That's interesting, pooch, thanks.

When I went to high school there in the 70's, there was much less diversity of opinion.

Winston, didn't you get the message?  Jesus is Satan.  He upset the entire Old Testament.  Christians are the only Satanists.  I'm the farthest thing from a Satanist.

Really, son, you are behind the times.
