UNA FAN, I hate you are worrying with scary news. I hope all is well. Your mother sounds like a lovely lady. Your love and respect for her is such a precious gift. I can't think of anything that would make me happier than my children to speak well of me.

After my FIL was diagnosed with dementia, I read some very good advice from a book in the library that I passed on to my husband. He said it helped him when visiting with his Dad. The book said to love the person you see as you see them 'today', meaning get to know that person as they are today and love them as they are.

I enjoyed reading a portion of her story. Smiler

I know now that this was supposed to be a funny thread, but once I saw it and got to thinking about it, I've got to post this: My Mom...

She was a Nun for 16 yrs

Got out of the Convent (after severe punishment from them) because she had some 'feelings' for the brother of another Nun(that is when she knew that she had not found her true calling)

She met my Daddy (that was 12 yrs older) and fell in love

She had my sister and I (My Daddy had his first stroke while she was pregnant with me)

My Daddy died when I was 18 months old. They only had seven years together. She has never remarried.

My Mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was six, had a mastectomy, then diagnosed again a few years later and was treated with Cobalt.

She has always been 'my rock', but just a few hours ago called me with some health issues that scared the heck out of me (I acted like it was no big deal, but I will be calling the doctor in the morning) and obviously I am freaking out right now!!!

I do apologize if I have given too much info, but like I said, when I saw the topic, I had to post it.

Btw, My sister, the journalist, has started a book about my Mother's life. It really is quite interesting.

Although My Mother has been diagnosed with dementia, she still very much remembers the 'important' things and is still very much a Mother to me.

Again, I'm sorry if this was out of the way, but I guess I needed to vent for some reason and felt like this was the best place at the time.... Confused Thanks for listening!
