President Bush is waging his War on Terror on a credit card, payable by future generations. The National Debt has increased $3 trillion dollars under this President.
Some of them are still selling the war. The lead story last night on Shepard Smith was a terror threat in Russia. The lead story on Hardball was Barack Obama announcing his presidential exploratory committee.

I detest war-mongers.
The far right usually bases their sayings on lies and misconceptions and you have to examine them closely. That's why I urge people to read the alternative media. It has taught me how to think. Many times the alternative media have exposed the facts which help me answer these lies. People like Chomsky, Michael Parentti, Edward Herman, Howard Zinn, Amy Goodman, Jeff Cohen, Norman Solomon, and a number of others. They go right to the heart of the lie and face it head on. I have learned this from them. They have also been inspirations to persevere in times when the "odds are stacked against you." They have stood up and "spoke truth to power."
The thing is I never stopped listening and reading the alternative media since 1970, so I have seen the other side. When they say I am not "Patriotic" because I oppose my government's polices I point out what Howard Zinn says, "Patriotism is not blind obedience to the government, that's Totalitarianism...." I also know the truth so I know I am right. My roots go back to the Vietnam War era. But I learned to expose the lies the right wing says by reading the alternative media. They expose the lies and I simply repeat them.
I am also a "Newshound" so I am constantly searching and picking up facts, which I just store in the back of my mind. Like with Saddam and Iraq. I knew they were lying because I have followed the region for decades. I wrote letters and protested against US support of Saddam in the 80's, so when the right wing called me a "Saddam lover" for opposing the invasion I laughed and asked them where were they in the 80's when Reagan, Bush Sr, Cheney and Rumsfeld all supported him? I also knew the sanctions had weakened and crippled Iraq and he and bin Laden were enemies. He was also enemies with Syria and Iran. The alternative media gave me the facts I needed to answer the lies.
Also, people did not join the National Guard to fight in foreign wars. That's why they joined the Guard instead of the army.
But many of these soldiers joined the military to get an education they couldn't afford and if we had free education they probably would not have joined. Education should be free, it's in the Nation's interest to have well educated citizens. It's real "National Security."
But many did join to defend the country and that's good also, except this war is a lie. To defend against real enemies and a real attack is worth while but this war is based on lies and is one lie after another. As I like to point out, if the people who is not for the war really thought there was a threat they would support the war. We know it's a lie and don't support it. That's real Patriotism.
This war is also doing harm to the US, financially and by creating more hatred and enemies in the region and around the world. There is no reason for this war except pure greed and a display of power and arrogance, that's un-American.

We see this war of elite's taking shape. The American Conservative is the old school and they are now taking on this new extreme right wing cabal. About time.
Ledeen was a key figure in Iran Contra and the Niger Forgery Papers, he is the one they feel was behind the break-in of the Italian Embassy where they stole the blank papers with the Italian headings that they used to forge the documents about Saddam buying uranium from Niger. I believe the break-in at the embassy occurred in Jan of 2001. Before the 9/11 attacks, so they were planning this from the start. He is also tied to AIPAC.
How long will people put up with the lies before they begin to not only question but see through the lies? Gore Vidal calls us "The United States of Amnesia." I think the people rely on the media to lead the way. They trust it and feel if there was a problem the media would address it. That's why we need to expose the corporate media as corporate, the problems and the lies.
If you notice the article points out how they all dropped the WMD story. If they really thought they went to Syria they would be saying so. Keep the article in files and when you hear about the WMD going to Syria either refer to it or send it out.
Old time conservatives are furious how they sold out America. Hopefully we can work together and stop this attack on Iran. Maybe the conservative movement can convince the generals to resign rather than carryout an attack. Big move I know but just a thought. Or the generals can go to congress, or even the media, and explain their opposition. Hopefully they oppose the idea.
They can also help muster up an impeachment movement. They have already shown they have influence as both the new corporate democrats, along with some republicans, are telling Bush they want oversight and are refusing to rubber stamp the escalation of troops. This congress can also vote against an attack on Iraq and take back the power they gave to Bush in Iraq. There are things they must do to stop the out break of another world war.
