Truck driver chokes on pork rinds, ends in ditch

And he's being cited for "driving with wheels off the roadway."

Lucky he was out in the middle of nowhere.

There's a driver with some serious time off coming.

What a lousy excuse to pile up a truck.

He is lucky though...headline could have read "Truck driver died in crash, pork rind crumbs in lap, smile on face".

I have to agree with you Road Puppy. I thought Fed-Ex held their drivers to a little higher standard. I know Wal-Mart does.

When you are in control of an 80,000 pound vehicle, you shouldn't be doing anything but driving. When you watching your rig and surrounding traffic and shifting gears and worrying about being legal and hoping you can stay on schedule you really don't have the capacity to concentrate on anything else. You get time alloted for eating and rest. When you recieve your CDL you are supposed to be a professional. Any thing you do that may be a distraction is not being professional.

Accidents happen and people die every day. I still say this guy is really lucky.
