The parade was on Sat. in Tuscumbia. It was advertised in the TD earlier in the week. I noticed the ad this morning, that it was today. I really don't understand that.
I do have to say, I was both ashamed and embarrassed by the small turnout at the parade yesterday. Those guys and ladies have done so much, that many of us would not be willing to do, yet, little or no recognition or appreciation. There was a pitiful few there, waving our little flags. I just do not understand peoples' priorities. It was a shame and a disgrace.
When I was young, patriotism was alive and well. When there was a parade, there was standing room only, all ages, children on daddys' shoulders, elderly in chairs. Yesterday, they (the veterans) were throwing candy by the handfuls, because there were so few to throw it to. I long for the past, when respect was not just a word.
No kidding, Gypsy!
I was starting to almost panic because there were maybe 35 people the whole length of the parade route! Thank goodness more people showed up as parade time grew closer. Not that many more, though.
How many people were at the Veteran's Day Parade as compared to those at UNA's Homecoming parade last week?
Sad, sad, sad.
