Weel finally someone put into writing what most of us have been saying for years.....You can't find voter fraud if you aren't looking for it.....

State elections officials in North Carolina are investigating hundreds of cases of potential voter fraud after identifying thousands of registered voters with personal information matching those of voters who voted in other states in 2012.

Elections Director Kim Strach told state lawmakers at an oversight hearing Wednesday that her staff has identified 765 registered North Carolina voters who appear to have cast ballots in two states during the 2012 presidential election.

Strach said the first names, last names, birthdates and last four digits of their Social Security numbers appear to match information for voters in another state. Each case will now be investigated to determine whether voter fraud occurred.

"Could it be voter fraud? Sure, it could be voter fraud," Strach said. "Could it be an error on the part of a precinct person choosing the wrong person's name in the first place? It could be. We're looking at each of these individual cases."

WRAL.com reported that 81 residents who died before election day were recorded as casting a ballot. While about 30 of those voters appear to have legally cast ballots before election day, Strach said "there are between 40 and 50 [voters] who had died at a time that that's not possible."

"We have the 'Walking Dead,' and now we've got the 'Voting Dead,'" said state Sen. Bob Rucho, R-Mecklenburg. "I guess the reason there's no proof of voter fraud is because we weren't looking for it."  Well....duh-h-h

Strach cautioned, however, that in several past cases, instances of so-called zombie voters turned out to be the result of clerical errors.

"We're in the process of looking at each of these to see," Strach said. "That means either a poll or precinct worker made a mistake and marked the wrong person, or someone voted for them. That's something we can't determine until we look into each case."

A law passed last year by the Republican-dominated state legislature required elections staff to check information for North Carolina's more than 6.5 million voters against a database containing information for 101 million voters in 28 states.

The cross-check found listings for 35,570 North Carolina voters whose first names, last names and dates of birth match those of voters who voted in other states. However, in those cases middle names and Social Security numbers were not matched.

The analysis also found 155,692 registered North Carolina voters whose information matched voters registered in other states but who most recently registered or voted elsewhere. Strach said those were most likely voters who moved out of state without notifying their local boards of elections.

Republicans leaders immediately touted the preliminary report as evidence they were justified in approving sweeping elections changes last year that include requiring voters to present photo ID at the polls, cutting days from the period for early voting and ending a popular civics program that encouraged high school students to pre-register to vote in advance of their 18th birthdays.

“That is outrageous. That is criminal. That is wrong, and it shouldn’t be allowed to go any further without substantial investigations from our local district attorneys who are the ones charged with enforcing these laws,” state Sen. Thom Goolsby, R-Wilmington, told the Charlotte Observer.

State House Speaker Thom Tillis, R-Mecklenburg, and Senate Leader Phil Berger, R-Rockingham, issued a joint statement Wednesday on what they termed as the "alarming evidence."

"While we are alarmed to hear evidence of widespread voter error and fraud, we are encouraged to see the common-sense law passed to ensure voters are who they say they are is working," said the statement. "These findings should put to rest ill-informed claims that problems don't exist and help restore the integrity of our elections process."

However, other states using the cross-check system have yielded relatively few criminal prosecutions for voter fraud once the cases were thoroughly investigated.

Only 11 people were prosecuted on allegations of double-voting as a result of the 15 states that performed similar database checks following the 2010 elections, according to data compiled by elections officials in Kansas, where the cross-check program originated.

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.....nothing to see here...

Bob Hall, director of the non-profit group Democracy North Carolina, cautioned officials not to jump to conclusions based on the preliminary database check.

"I know there is more than one Bob Hall with my birth date who lives among the 28 states researched," Hall said. "There may be cases of fraud, but the true scale and conspiracy involved need to be examined more closely before those with political agendas claim they've proven guilt beyond a reasonable doubt."

And yet here is still one more moron that just doesn't get it....

Voting rights advocate Bob Phillips of Common Cause NC told WRAL.com that while he is concerned about the report, it still doesn't justify requiring voters to present photo ID at the polls.

"I think a lot of [lawmakers] are saying, 'Aha, this proves what we did,'" Phillips said. "But if I have an ID, how is that going to stop me from voting in North Carolina if I've already voted in Florida?"

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Hillary in 2016?  Why not?  We've already had one "girly man" serving in office for the past 7 years, we might as well give her chance as well!

The majority of them were used in the rebellion of Syria and are now again being spread out across the Middle East to other sects who will hold them till the time is right to once again use them without reprecussion. Only a fool would believe that these things NEVER existed.  Too many scientists and investigators knew what was going on in Iraq with Soviet scientists who left after the downfall of the old Soviet Union. There was a female microbiologist from the old Soviet union who was known to be working on smallpox.  Her last known whereabouts had been Iraq. Hopefully, she is dead in the desert somewhere.

Please is right....way before reasoning.  You couldn't find a Dem that was not on TV during that period who did not suspect the WMDs were there, but after they all dissappeared it was like "we told you so"....haha.....like a bunch of schoolchildren ignorant of the ways of the world and trying to keep from looking dirty.

Do you think they aren't? Do you think that all productive people aren't supplying the presents? What makes you think tea party members, republicans, anyone not marching to the democrits drum are hard hearted? Where do you suppose all the BILLIONS put into government programs came from? Who supports all the charities out there to the tune of billions? Only democrats? Why do the libs obsess about the tea party? You're another one that talks the talk but won't walk the walk.

Liberal Dems love higher taxes but will park their yacht in a different state to avoid paying them.

They love public schools but send their kids to private schools. They then oppose giving poor kids the choice on which school they can attend.

They love more regulations until it applies to their business or industry. Hollywood asking for tax breaks and less regulations from CA is a good example.

We don't have to worry about the Dems running for office any more.....they can't live on that $174K they are being paid now, so they need some more of your tax money.....

Yep, jt, keep on sending these worthless scum to Washington.....you deserve what you get.

Yep, I am the one who decides who goes to Washington and who does not go.  It looks like I have totally got the wrong ones up there.  Next election, maybe I'll let someone else have a voice in it.

How many of them are in it for the salary?  They normally steal way more than the salary.

If you make a claim you should be able to back it up. I could just say, "powell said jt lied, I heard it, sorry if you didn't".

jt,

On this very forum, on multiple occasions you have said you will ALWAYS vote Democrat, regardless of the individuals running.  And that is the exact attitude that sends scumbags like this back into office.  The Republicans have them as well, so voting a straight ticket just because they have a D or an R behind their name is the very thing we need to avoid.

In my life, I have voted for two republicans.  Nixon's second term and a local sheriff.  Nixon won and the sheriff lost.(I got a bargain with the Nixon vote, 2 presidents and 3 vice presidents)

Another thing to keep in mind is in the district that I live in and vote in, EVERY person elected to national (DC) or state (Nashville) are republican and I vote for the democrats. So much for me sending the scumbags to run our country.

And yet you still do not understand what I am telling you.  The attitude of voting in that manner will do it every time.  Your vote may not count that way, but I can assure you there are a ton more just like you, on this very forum, who do the same thing, and in national elections it does make a difference. There are so many people out there, even in this community, who don't mind sending a crook to Washington, or Montgomery, as long as he is "our crook".  Do they not understand that these people have to be stealing from someone in order to give them whatever it is they are expecting?

To Best

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Secretary of State Colin Powell said Thursday his prewar speech to the United Nations accusing Iraq of harboring weapons of mass destruction was a "blot" on his record.

"I'm the one who presented it to the world, and (it) will always be a part of my record. It was painful. It is painful now," Powell said in an interview with Barbara Walters on ABC-News. (Related storyThe story of WMDs that weren't)

The presentation by the soldier-diplomat to the world body in February 2003 lent considerable credibility to President Bush's case against Iraq and for going to war to remove President Saddam Hussein.

In the speech, Powell said he had relied on information he received at Central Intelligence Agency briefings. He said Thursday that then-director George Tenet "believed what he was giving to me was accurate."

But, Powell said, "the intelligence system did not work well."

"There were some people in the intelligence community who knew at the time that some of those sources were not good, and shouldn't be relied upon, and they didn't speak up," Powell said.

"That devastated me," he said.

Powell in the TV interview also disputed the Bush administration's linking of Saddam's regime with terrorists.

He said he had never seen a connection between Baghdad and the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington in 2001. "I can't think otherwise, because I'd never seen evidence to suggest there was one," he said.

Still, Powell said that while he has always been a "reluctant warrior" he supported Bush on going to war the month after his U.N. speech. "When the president decided that it was not tolerable for this regime to remain in violation of all those U.N. resolutions I am right there with him with the use of force," Powell said.

Not sure what your post means. As far as the article about powell, I've seen all those. Now here's the problem. Once more-you stated that powell had apologized for "fibbing" to the UN. Fibbing is just a word for lying. So, you are stating that powell lied, knew he was lying, and later apologized for lying. I don't see that. I see powell saying he was wrong and making excuses, not admitting he lied.

Okay, he made a speech and did not tell the truth.  He told what he thought to be the truth.  When he found out the truth he regretted telling something that wasn't so.  At that time I became a bigger supporter of him than in the past.  None of the other officials did this.  He was man enough to admit a mistake, the others kept trying to act like it was "weapons of mass destruction"

In 5-Year Effort, Scant Evidence of Voter Fraud

Correction Appended

WASHINGTON, April 11 — Five years after the Bush administration began a crackdown on voter fraud, the Justice Department has turned up virtually no evidence of any organized effort to skew federal elections, according to court records and interviews.

Not a big science major in HS, but I did take chemistry and physics. In no case, was creationism mentioned.  We did see a bit on Jesus during world history, as he did influence the path of history.  Perhaps, progressives should believe less of their propaganda. Learning math and how to write well and precisely was more the thing.
